My Summary
About Me
I have completed my NVQ level 2 in childcare and am now completing my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood. I am DBS checked and have relevant first aid training.
My Experience
Whilst at Lakers Secondary School I completed a French Leaders Award whilst doing this I went to different primary schools around the forest of dean to teach children aged 4-6 basic French language skills. This included creating lesson plans and worksheets to use whilst teaching the children. This experience helped me gain skills such as time management, organisation, working in a team and communication skills. I also worked as a team in my tutorial session to manufacturer and sell bath salts to make a profit which went to charity. I also contributed in charity events whilst at school such as sponsored walks and a sponsored fast. I have also done numerous babysitting activities as I have three nieces aged 12 and 5 and 6 weeks, and 2 nephews aged 4 and 2 year old. I have also completed work experience at Ruardean Church Of England Primary School. Whilst here I was able to develop my skills further which I hope will help me in the future as I wish to work within childcare. I have also volunteered at Ruardean Acorns Preschool where I am able to help with the day to day running of the nursery and develop my skills further regarding working with children. For example, I have learnt how to talk and interact with them and the staff have given me some hints and tips of how to enhance what a child learns during "productive play". I have also been able to gain knowledge about the Early Years Foundation Scheme which I feel will aid me in the future.
I have previously worked within an Ofsted Ourstanding childminding setting. My job role whilst working here was to work as part of a team to generate an environment that meets the individualised emotional, social, intellectual and physical needs of the children. I have also been able to become involved with the general cleaning, medical and emergency duties and the general care of the children. Whilst here I have attended a safeguarding and paediatric first aid course which I have found useful in both the practical and written aspects of my course. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time and feel that I have gained vital skills which will help me develop my career further, for example, with help from my mentor I have gained experience with using the EYFS and writing observations. I have also gained various skills such as time management skills, communication skills when talking to the parents and the children, I also feel that working within this setting has helped to develop my confidence and aid me with my planning and organisation skills as I have been able to learn how to plan an activity and prepare alternative methods if the activity does not go to plan. During my time at Wiggles and Giggles Child-Minding I have worked closely as part of a team which means I have been able to work closely with Level 3 Qualified staff and learn from them. Whilst at this setting I have also been able to help with the paperwork and even help with aspects of the technological aspects of things which includes creating documents which can be used in the day to day running of the setting and even documents which have been used within the children’s folders. I have also been able to get to know all of the children whilst working here and have come to know their personalities, likes and dislikes.
I am now currently working within a nursery setting.
