My Summary
About Me
My name is Amanda and I would like to welcome you to Fieldmouse Childminding. I have lived in Spalding for the last 20 years with my Husband Nigel and my son William, having moved here from Market Deeping.
We live in a modern 4 bedroom detached house overlooking fields and Vernatts drain with an enclosed private garden and drive, tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac.
The main room for the children in the house is the dedicated playroom which is full of toys, books and other exciting things such as a cinema style TV and floor cushion bean bags. The spacious modern kitchen is where all the arts and crafts take place as well as baking and eating.
We also enjoy a private enclosed garden where the children will have lots of time to play with outdoor toys, sand and water play available and we also grow our own fruit and vegetables.
I am a fun and bubbly person who enjoys creating a safe and secure environment where children and young adults can grow and learn to reach their full potential whilst having fun and living life to the full as everyone should.
I also organise a bowling group once a month for all of our children and young adults with or without SEN to encourage using our community, making friends and feeling safe and happy in our group. our group is called Fieldmouse Family Social because we are a big family at my setting.
My Experience
I have worked with children for over 23 years in various capacities, firstly as a customer liaison officer, promoting the Library Service and getting more children involved in using the Libraries by liaising with schools through competitions and promotions, story times and activities and then through visiting playgroups and nursery schools promoting books, telling stories and organising activities on the children’s Library Van.
I have always enjoyed working with children and have received many letters from children and parents thanking me for my services of storytelling and activities and featured in the local press a number of times.
Having worked with children for the past 23 years I am very familiar with helping children grow into happy confident young people in a safe and caring environment.
I have experience caring for children with additional needs, my son has a rare chromosome abnormality, I also have experience caring for other children and young adults with additional needs such as Autism, Asperger syndrome, Down's syndrome and ADHD of which I have patience and understanding.
Each child I care for will have their own learning journal where I will collate observations, developments and photos of their time in my setting and we will discuss this together frequently. I now only care and support school age children and make sure they all enjoy life skills in my setting.
