About Me

I am a qualified Montessori Nursery Nurse Childminder and registered with Ofsted as a Childminder. I’am also a mother of six grown up children who live away from home independently and a proud young grandmother of 10 grandchildren ages from 4 months to 15 years old.
I am a very young at heart 59 year old grandmother with over 35 years experience in childcare.

I have 6 adult children that live away from home.

Raising my children to become leaders from a early age put each of them on a path to success and as a Mother this has been a great achievement for me which I continue to share and also instil within the children that I look after so that they will also have a mindset of leadership at a young age.

Dr Maria Montessori also used similar methods like myself by always giving the child the opportunity to lead and take charge about which activities the child wants to take part in or simply play or learn an educational activity they pick for themselves and by doing so a child grows up knowing that they can make decisions on their own and not follow the ground.
The play room is set up so that children can simply walk to the activity they want and take off the shelf or box and sit down on a matt or at their own designated chair and table and learn/work /play while I observe and then join in by asking the child a few questions etc.

The children are taught life skills such as polish their own cutlery plates and cups.
These life skills include laying their individual tables with cutlery during breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner etc.
Wiping the their tables after eating and wiping their tables and many more to long to list.

As a Montessori Nursery Nurse Childminder I have used my experience to combine the Early years foundation stage with Montessori teaching methods.
I take great pride in the high level of childcare that I offer working parents from Monday to Saturday.

I employ 2 Nursery assistants that work on a rota shift and assist me on a daily basis.
I provide a fun educational structured day for the children in my care.

A daily report is sent out by WhatsApp
each day so parents know how their child spent their day.
Parents are also sent photo / videos of their child’s activities during the day.
Parents are also encouraged to send a video message to their child which allows each child to feel extra reassured.

I love looking after children and it makes me happy to see the development of each child over the years until they start primary school.

The wonderful thing is that I keep in touch with the parents of the children that have previously been looked after and it is such a joy to hear and see updates on a child's progress after they have left my setting.

Every child is a unique individual and it is my job to motivate each child and encourage them to learn through play.
Each child is taught to be independent and to make decisions of the learning activity that they wish to take part in on a daily basis.
Children are provided with school uniform upon acceptance of a place in our setting.
Uniform to be worn from Monday to Thursday and Friday is non uniform day.
Children are given the opportunity to learn basic life skills so that when they enter a large setting /school they are ready and prepared and confident.

My Ofsted Inspections

The inspection grades below have been obtained from the Ofsted website based upon the registration number the childminder has provided to us. You should verify this information yourself prior to using the childminder.

Ofsted Good Provider Logo
Good
4 June 2025
Older children thrive in a well-organised, stimulating environment that promotes exploration and creativity. The curriculum is inclusive, supporting development in language, cultural awareness, and social skills. Children with special educational needs receive tailored support. However, the curriculum for babies needs improvement to provide more opportunities for independence and problem-solving. Hand-washing reminders before meals are inconsistent, which could be addressed to support hygiene routines.

Barbara is kind person, my daughter loved her and Cindy too, I am so grateful for what they have done for us.
My daughter learned a lot. I wasn't worried during the day, if she is ok or not, as I knew she is more than ok. Everything she needed it was provided.
I recommend for every parent with confidence.
Thank you Barbara for everything.

Our daughter started at around 8 months and I was a bit worried about how she would manage being away from mum for most of the day especially being a breastfed baby. Auntie Barbara did an amazing job getting her settled and keeping me updated about how she was doing in the first few weeks. We are confident that our baby is well looked after and is enjoying her time there. As we started while she was still getting used to solid food, it has been great to see that she enjoys mealtimes and I'm sure she is well fed when she is there. Barbara has also been very effective in controlling the risk of a covid outbreak in the nursery so we haven't had too much time off. I'm so glad that we chose her and we look forward to staying with her as long as we can.
