My Summary
Warren Road School Before & After School Care
About Me
I am an experienced Ofsted registered childminder and have been registered since 2003. After many wonderful years caring for babies and preschool age children, I now offer before and after school care only.
I live with my husband. I have two lovely, now grown up children, who no longer live at home.
Children are encouraged to have some settling in visits to feel comfortable and to start establishing friendships with the other children. A sense of belonging is really important and I strive to ensure all children are happy. All the children in my care have wonderful relationships and very much care about one another.
The children have access to all rooms downstairs for relaxing, reading and playing. I also have a purpose built room with tables and seating for art & crafts and lots of resources for them to enjoy.
I have a good sized garden for outside play.
I can offer excellent references, including verbal & written from parents of the children in my care. I pride myself in having excellent relationships with all the parents.
I have received three Outstanding Ofsted grades over the years and recently received a Good in my last inspection.
I offer a term time only contract or I can offer some school holiday cover too (days to be agreed). I care for children Monday to Thursday.
I am located between Orpington and Chelsfield railway stations. I am within easy walking distance of both the stations.

Cheryl is amazing. She is dedicated, kind, great at her job and extremely organised. She provides a wonderful environment for our son and daughter. As well as teaching them lovely manners, to be kind and respectful (‘caring and sharing’ is our motto), she provides nutritional and healthy meals. We have been with Cheryl for over seven years. She has cared for our daughter from the age of one (she is soon to be eight years old) and for our son from the age of three months (he will shortly be four years old). Our daughter is at school and so attends Cheryl’s twice a week after school and our son has two full days with Cheryl (and one after pre school).
She has been present for so many milestones and has tracked our children’s progress and development. Cheryl provides us with a daily summary of their activities, including how much they have eaten and any activities. We receive photos and text messages of what they are getting up to. We are so pleased with the variety of activities Cheryl undertakes with ours and the other children. It is great to hear about all the different things they do and both my children are thrilled and animated when they tell me about their time with Cheryl. When restrictions have allowed Cheryl takes the children for trips (eg the farm and park).
Cheryl also undertakes a wide expanse of pursuits within her own home. Both my children are relaxed but respectful with Cheryl and they bring this behaviour home. Weather permitting, Cheryl has the water table or sand table out for the children to use as well as the mud kitchen in the garden. They love having fun in the ‘reading corner’, dressing up, playing with the dolls/house and the kitchen. We love the interest both our children have to learn about new cultures, such as making a candle holder for Diwali and a bug hotel for Earth Day. We are delighted that they get to use so many art methods as well as learning about the different events and helping them build confidence and (in the case of my son) becoming school ready.
In summary Cheryl is a fantastic person and an amazing childminder. We are so grateful for her and her family and the other families we have met through her. We feel so pleased that we found her and proud that she takes care of our children and cares for us all as if we are part of her family.
Cheryl cared for my son from seven months to 2 and a half and he had the most wonderful start in life. Cheryl regularly took him to groups with the other children but also there was time spent at home reading books, doing jigsaws and arts and crafts etc.
Cheryl was always very forthcoming with information and I always knew how they had spent the day and any new things that had happened, the communication was great. Also that meant that if we had a problem or a new behavior we could work together to see how best to resolve it and be consistent at home and at the childminders.
Cheryl is full of love for all the children she cares for and her home is always very welcoming, clean and warm. It was our first time with childcare and Cheryl talked us through all the processes and forms and made the transition from maternity leave to work very easy.
My son still talks about Cheryl and whenever we drive past her house he always shouts 'Cheryl' as loud as he can which to me speaks volumes. It was very sad when we had to leave Cheryl but I cannot thank her enough for the care and love she gave our son.
