My Summary

My Experience

I have been professionally working with children for 8 years in several different settings, ranging in ages from babies-12 years old with various learning abilities.

I was working in several settings (day nursery, nursery school, primary school and special needs) from 2013-2015 during my course which gained me over 800 hours of childcare experience before becoming qualified.

I worked as a classroom assistant with P2 for 5 months and assisted the teacher with general classwork, mainly literacy and numeracy whilst leading arts and craft activities. (Feb 2016-June 2016)

I worked at a special needs camp in upstate NY for 2 summers (2016-2017) from June - August working with teenagers and adults with mild-severe special needs; autism, Down syndrome, Fragile X, cerebral palsy and ADHD. I worked with the teenage boys my first summer but also got to float around working with other bunks. I assisted with general dressing, bathing and eating, ensuring food was cut up and helping with basic skills. I encouraged alongside my other bunk counsellors rounding up the boys to the activities and did the same my second summer except with the adult males.

I worked for Carnival Cruise Line and just completed my first contract with them as a camp staff animator from July 23 2018 - January 25 2019. I worked with babies - 11 year olds who were separated by age group; under 2’s, 2-5’s, 6-8’s & 9-11’s. We have to plan several activities catered to their age group and whilst also following our activity planner. I am also an animator which means I played a character from Dr Suess, I was Sam-I-Am who plays green eggs and ham! (2018-19)

I also look after twins. I’m in the middle of doing an Early Childhood Studies degree part time with Stranmillis University College.

My Qualifications

6 GCSE's Grade B/C's including Maths, English, Science and Child Development.

BTEC National Diploma (Level 3) in Children's Care Learning and Development. Triple grade of Distinction Merit Merit (DMM).

Paediatric and CPR trained.

Several Acess NI / DBS checks

Currently working towards a BA Early Childhood Studies degree at Stranmillis University College.
