About Me
I am an Ofsted registered home from home setting and encourage learning through play using the EYFS framework. We have recently been rated Outstanding again by Ofsted Feb 2024 & May 2018. My background is in teaching and more specifically Design & Technology so I am very creative; this is shown through the way I plan and deliver activities and run my setting.
I have a lovely family and live in Doxford park with my husband who is DBS checked. He runs his own accountancy and bookkeeping business, is my accountant and registered to be my assistant. We have 2 children a son who is 15 and daughter who is 11 years old. They are both very caring and love to be around and play with other children. We also have a small cavapoo dog who is very placid, sociable and amazing with the children! He is also a hypoallergenic breed.
I live in a 3 bed detached corner plot property with a large garden to the rear and gardens to the front and side, we live in a smoke free environment and are a very active family that love the outdoors. We also have an allotment nearby that we venture to regularly with our little ones where we grow our own produce and extend our learning.
My Experience
I absolutely love children! I had been a teacher for 12 years before I started childminding in 2016 and hold qualified teacher status. I am enthusiastic about my job and feel it is very rewarding, I understand and have experience of looking after all ages of children from newborn babies upto teenagers and am confident in doing so.
I always keep up to date with appropriate training such as first aid, health & safety, hygiene and safeguarding as well as new information such as British values and the prevent duty. I complete a minimum of 25 hours a year CPD training and seek it out in support of any child I have in my care.
We have recently been one of the very few settings in the UK to be accredited with the Elklan Communication based friendly setting status in March 2024 and are a language rich setting that focuses on speech and language for children under 5!
In addition to this I also have a lot of experience in child development and health and social care as well as teaching it I have been actively involved in developing the curriculum for this, completed many research papers and practical developments for CPD in support of this to understand more.
I also work alongside ‘Northern lights Stronger Practice hub’ the NCB & DfE developing networks, supporting the sector and providing evidence based best practice. I also lead my own playgroup @st Lukes Church based in Pallion. I am currently the only childminder in the North East to be in partnership with the EYSPH championing our sector.
My Qualifications
BA hons degree In Design technology & Education, I have Qualified teacher status and have also taught child development and health & social care for over 10 years.
I also have a level 3 HCBA cache childcare qualification as well as currently undergoing a NPQ in early years leadership.
I hold an up to date Paediatric first aid certificate as well as L2 & 3 Food safety and catering qualifications.
I also have all the core safeguarding and designated safeguarding lead training as well as currently developing further special needs and learning needs training for early years with childcare.co.uk.
I have also completed training in many awareness and developmental courses regarding SEN and learning difficulties.
My Availability
Please contact me for availability as we are quite a small setting with limited ratios. It may be possible to add you to our waiting list if spaces are not available on the day(s) you require.
I offer the 15 universal and 30 hour extended funded places for 2,3 &4 year olds as well as funding for working parents that are available for children from 9m old.
