My son came to Potley Hill Preschool 3 years ago, he has now moved on to primary school, I am now excited for my daughter to be starting here. I love this place, they follow the curiosity approach, so all the learning is child led and in the moment. They encourage the children to be as independent as they can be. The staff are wonderful and always looking to improve the setting to the children's needs. Sorry gushing post over... (But it truly is amazing)
When my son started they did think he had some issues, but it wasn’t what they thought as he finally came out of his shell after a little while. they like to provide each child with there own individual progress plans so you can see how your child is getting on in there development. Which is great and have regular meeting if you want to. They do now have a lot more children there so i think is to busy now (my own option don’t get me wrong). They have newly refurbished gardens and inside has a new calm setting where everything is natural and Neutral Feel now. He has come such a long way being here and will miss them a lot.
My son started preschool in April and my older girls previously attended. This is a fantastic preschool which I would recommend to everyone. All the staff are friendly, professional and approachable. The passion and enthusiasm of the manager is outstanding and this resonates down to the staff and ultimately the children, providing a safe and happy environment in which they thrive and are not afraid to explore. The activities that are organised for the children are excellent and Imaginative and they have started adding elements of forest school into the day which my son loves.
Hot meals, ad hoc sessions and extended hours have all been introduced which will make returning to work so much easier and has also meant that whilst I’ve been on maternity leave I’ve been able to get ad hoc sessions so that I can attend appointments without having to take my son.
As a parent I feel like the preschool has developed my parenting skills and helped me to prepare my older children to be school ready. The preschool is like a small community and I have been able to help give back by being involving in some fund raising elements. Both my children and I have made life long friends here and we will be very sad when my son leaves for big school.
Our Son has been attending Potley Hill Pre-School for the last 12 months and we are thrilled with how he is developing. From day one he settled in really well. All the teachers and staff have been really welcoming, caring and supportive. We are really impressed with the variety of activities he gets involved with, visits to the day-care centre, nature walks, PE, Disco’s and healthy eating initiatives to name but a few.
More recently at Potley Hill Pre-School, they have started to adopt the 'Curiosity Approach' which encourages staff to create and inspire a culture of curiosity. This helps the children develop independent thinking, communication and problem solving skills (whilst having tonnes of fun!). All the staff have been so enthusiastic and excited about this approach and I have to say we have really noticed the change in our son who can’t wait to go to school each morning, he was disappointed when it was end of term!
We are delighted with the progress our son is making and we are confident with all the support and care offered at this pre-school he will be ready emotionally, socially and mentally to make the next step to primary school in September.
We highly recommend Potley Hill Pre-School, the team are outstanding – keep up the excellent work!
