My Summary
About Me
I am a mother with a 20 year old son and live five minutes from the Sainsbury's Saver Centre in Lower Sydenham. I have been a childminder now for nearly 20 years and enjoy working, caring and playing with children which is why I'm still here! I initially became a childminder in order to allow me to spend time with my own son who at a young age himself went to a childminder whilst I had to return to work; so I fully appreciate the difficulties parents face in finding and trusting someone to take care of their precious treasures. Before becoming a childminder I worked for a local authority as a Domestic Violence Co-ordinator and for the Citizens Advice Bureau and so have generally worked in the caring profession of one sort or another for most of my life.
My Experience
I love children and watching them develop and learn. I have a large garden which we make great use of all year round. In the summer months we have a water slide, multiple cars and a teepee, trampoline, mud kitchen and an arts and crafts corner. Yes it can get very busy! We are fortunate though to live 5 minutes from a quiet local park which we frequent often with picnics and go to after school for a run around. We also visit the Hornimans Museum/park, Mayow and Dulwich park to name but a few. Fortunately, I drive and have a 8 seater vehicle which allows us to go on many other exciting adventures like the sea-side and to Godstone Farm (annual setting day trip). We attend a variety of different parent/toddler/childminder only playgroups on a daily basis, in order to provide variety, difference and socialising experience for the children I care for. I provide structured and unstructured play and learning based on the individual needs of each child. I enjoy watching the children having fun, interacting with other children and achieving their milestones. I have been fortunate enough to have cared for children from a wide cultural mix English, Caribbean, Asian, Chinese, African, Eastern European which has been interesting and informative for the children in the setting and where I to have learnt new things. References can be provided upon request.
My Qualifications
I have a degree in Economics and Politics and hold a masters degree in Development Studies. I have NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Childcare and have attended various one day and extended courses relating to childcare and child development such as Managing Behaviour, Special Needs Awareness and How to Play, amongst others. I have the required legal qualifications such as an up to date First Aid Certificate and a Food Hygiene Certificate. My interests include complementary therapies and I have trained in Indian Head Massage, Eye-brow threading and various beauty techniques. I am also a trained exercise to music instructor. I love home baking and currently I am attending a cake decorating/design course.
My Availability
I am known for my friendliness and flexibility and have parents from all walks of life with varied work schedules. My hours of business are from 8am until 5.30pm. I do provide school pick-ups and drop-offs and currently do so at Kilmorie and Raffern Schools.

My daughter has been cared for by Audrey for the past year, since she was 1 year old, and absolutely loves attending and spending time with Audrey and the friends she has made here. My daughter eats well and naps well here.
Audrey always has a smile. She is very kind, flexible and extremely considerate to the needs of parents. She actively engages the children she cares for in a variety of activities and has kept a log of development and learning for my daughter which I have seen and contributed to.
Audrey has been quick to report any incidents or concerns, by giving me a telephone call during the day. When my daughter needed first aid, Audrey acted swiftly and appropriately. I have no concerns at all about Audrey being an excellent childminder and I am very pleased that I selected her for my daughter’s childcare.
My name is Simone and I am one of the many parents who has had the opportunity to have Audrey take care of my child. I was struggling to find a childminder for my son while I study, as the breakfast club starts to late and wouldn't give me enough time to get to university on time, so I needed a childminder to do a school drop off for me.
Its hard to find a good childminder, especially who you don't know personally.
After talking to someone at my sons school, which is just down the road from where Audrey lives, they recommended me to Audrey, who has been used by quite a few parents from the school. It just so happened that one of my sons best friends was child-minded by Audrey when he was an infant. With that reassurance I decided to go ahead.
That was over 2years ago and I can honestly say I made the right decision. She is very flexible and understanding, has a lovely home with a calm environment, is very professional, patient and kind. I would definitely recommend :)
