My Summary
About Me
My name is Erica Arden, I am an OFSTED registered childminder rated “Good” on inspection in June 2018. I have being living in Ealing for the past 25 years.
I have had a career a qualified Accountant for 20 years and have held various roles in Corporate Finance through out my career before deciding to retrain in Childcare.
I have studied child development and find it tremendously satisfying watching and helping every child to meet their full potential in all areas of learning.
My first language is English and have taught children English as an additional language.
I have a spacious and comfortable home with a large garden for outdoor activities. 5 minutes walk to Pitshanger Park and 3 minutes walk from Argyll road bus stop for all routes to Ealing.
I take the children out to a variety of local playgroups, outdoor centres and parks.
At home we will be baking, gardening, crafting, creating, building, engaging in messy play, role and imaginative play. There is a strong focus on speech and communication development through singing, story telling and real life experiences..
I teach phase 1 phonics through play and phase 2 phonics to those children who display an interest all in a fun and age appropriate way. I encourage children to mark make, cut, snip and thread in a wide variety of ways in order to build their fine motor skills needed for later in their education. I also focus on gross motor skills such as core body strength, running, jumping and climbing and will teach them to ride scooters and balance bikes.
I work with two assistants and provide an extremely personalised service tailored to you and your child's needs. I build a secure attachment with your child whereby they will feel safe and valued and enjoy learning through play.
My Experience
I have three children of my own giving me a total of 21 years of childcare experience through from babies through teens both boys and girls.
I have experience and training in global delay, speech and language, social communication difficulties, autism, sensory processing disorder, trauma and adoption.
I run a fully inclusive setting where every child and family is valued for being an individual and unique and am committed to ensuring each child reaches their potential.

My son attended Pelican childminding services from 11 months old up until he was almost 4.
My family can’t speak highly enough of Erica and her team of experts. Helping my son on an array of personal development steps - from dietary and eating, to fun and social skills.
This setting is all the great things you would expect from child care - fun, caring & safe, but with that experienced expert touch on case by case specifics that surface, which has been good for us as parents also.
The detailed feedback and support we received on a daily basis was exceptional and I would recommend her to anyone. We were sad to say goodbye.

Erica and her team looked after our eldest child from 11months to 4 years old and our youngest child from 11 months to 2 years old. We were incredibly impressed by the individual care both children received and the fantastic support from Erica and her team.
We had no family in London but Erica and her team made it feel like we did. Erica and her team provided extra assistance during challenging periods and always communicated fantastically with us.
As a teacher, I was particularly impressed by the awareness of child development and current pedagogical issues Erica demonstrated. She ensured that both our children were meeting the correct milestones and used their interests to inspire and develop their understanding of the world around them.
Both our children loved their time in Erica’s setting and we will miss the amazing crafts they brought home to celebrate world festivals and significant events. We would highly recommend this setting.

Erica and her team cared for my son from 14 months to age 4, and I cannot rate her setting highly enough. She got to know him in such incredible detail, taking extraordinary interest in his additional needs, that she was able to support us and offer advice throughout all his milestones, as well as the reassurance of recounting the minutia of his day-to-day wellbeing - communication was always exceptional.
Erica cares deeply for the children she looks after, showing them kindness and patience, whilst instilling good boundaries for positive behaviour. She is very knowledgeable about early years education, bringing the best out of the kids in her care - and her passion for inclusion makes for a very nurturing environment.
Our son has flourished in her setting, and I look forward to my youngest joining her later this year.

Thank you Amanda, that’s very kind of you to leave such a lovely review. Looking forward to welcoming the next little one soon and watching big brother as he progresses through school.
Kind Regards
Erica
We moved our daughter from a private nursery to Erica’s setting just before she turned 3 years and have been extremely happy. Our daughter settled very quickly at Erica’s and really enjoys the setting. Erica and her team of excellent assistants provide a nurturing and stimulating environment. They also visit the local parks and playgrounds multiple times a week and enjoy a lot of time in Erica’s garden.
I highly recommend Erica to anyone who is seeking the perfect balance of a professional, well-run setting that is also nurturing. Erica takes great care to understand the individual child, and she provides detailed feedback to us and speaks to us regularly about our child’s development. We feel it is the perfect sized setting with enough children that provides a social environment for our daughter with the added benefit of a home environment and a high ratio of carers to children.
I have no doubt in my mind that this setting is exceptional, and I would choose it over any nursery!

Erica and her team looked after our two boys from 13 months and our eldest was in her care until almost four and starting nursery. Erica provides an extremely nurturing, kind, varied and explorative environment, with lots of opportunity for outdoor play and outings to playgroups and the park – something they benefitted from enormously. She was a great partner in raising our boys, listening to their individual needs and our preferred approach and always providing useful tips and advice along the way. Her daily updates often with photos enabled us to share in the boys’ experiences and fully engage with the setting, We would not hesitate to recommend Erica as a childminder.
