About Me
I am a trained primary school teacher and qualified primary school Deputy Head Teacher and have trained as a child minder with my daughter. We have been working together for 4 years and are providing childcare in our own home in South Godstone, Surrey. We are committed to imaginative, creative, child centred and play based learning and believe in the importance of learning in the outdoors.
We have a large outdoor space, with patio, lawn and an attached private woodlands. We provide a safe and exciting environment for children, where they can enjoy nature, explore and learn about the natural environment and where they can take their learning outdoors. We provide Forest School activities where children can clamber, climb, build, dig, collect and role play. We have a quiet room which includes space to sleep and a messy room for painting and creative activities.
We are about fun, discovery and exploration and we want children to have their own ideas, to take measured risks, to try things out and develop as unique individuals. We are Little Acorns Godstone.
My Experience
I am a trained Primary School Teacher (B.Ed degree) and a qualified Deputy Head Teacher (NPQH). I worked in Primary Schools in Central London, South London and West Sussex for over 30 years. Part of my role included Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator providing for children with additional needs and supporting their families. I worked predominantly in Key Stage 1 and the Early years, teaching in the reception class for 6 years, developing the setting to provide exciting, child centred and play based opportunities where children could make their own decisions and learning at their own pace. I am passionate about learning through experience and through relevant and exciting opportunities. I provided for individual children's different learning styles, and used positive behaviour management to create a calm and respectful learning environment. I work with parents and families to support children at home and as a child minder I work in close partnership with families to provide consistent and quality care.
I am a mother to three grown up children who are pursuing different careers in child minding (with me), art and graphics and photography. My husband is a trained Forest School Practitioner and provides Forest School experiences for the children we care for in our own woodlands.
My Qualifications
Bachelor of Education Degree Primary Education.

My Availability
We will provide registered childcare:
Monday to Friday
from 8.30 - 5.30,
We do have room to be flexible in individual cases so it is worth having a discussion about your circumstances if necessary.
We do drop off and pick up from local schools and settings.
We work term time only, but we work all of July and September, we are closed for August.

My Fees
- Childminding from £7.00 per hour
£30 per half day, then £7 per hour added for each subsequent hour when less than a full day.
£60 per full day
£8 per hour for wrap around care for older school aged children.
This includes all food through the day, and all local and regular trips.
