Mindful And Frobelian Inspired Early Learning And Child Care
About Me
KEY WORKER CHILDCARE...
As a registered Childminder with the Care Inspectorate and a former IT Lecturer at UHI, I offer a warm, welcoming, and mindful environment in the Inshes area of Inverness. My setting is inspired by Froebelian principles, designed to meet each child where they are, fostering their growth and development at their own pace.
Children have the freedom to explore a variety of spaces in my home, including:
• A cozy upstairs sensory/quiet room that doubles as a soft play area, perfect for unwinding and relaxation.
• A thoughtfully arranged, neutral-toned Froebel-inspired play area downstairs, encouraging open-ended, imaginative play.
• A large, enclosed garden equipped with climbing and play equipment, providing ample space for physical activity and outdoor exploration.
I also hold a full, clean driving licence, ensuring flexibility in supporting families. My goal is to create a caring and comfortable environment where every child feels safe, supported, and free to thrive.
In addition to being a registered Childminder and a former IT Lecturer at UHI, I have extensive experience facilitating Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses in both public and private sectors. I integrate mindfulness into my daily life and childcare practice, placing each child at the heart of their care, meeting them where they are, and supporting their individual needs.
In my setting, play, self-regulation, and socialisation are at the core of what I offer. I am passionate about creating an environment where children can freely explore, express themselves, and develop emotional resilience. With my deep understanding of additional support needs, I tailor my approach to ensure every child feels seen, heard, and supported.
My Experience
As a parent of four children who have gone through playgroup, toddlers, primary, and secondary school, I understand firsthand the challenges and anxieties parents and carers can face, whether it’s with a first child or not. With this personal experience, I am attuned to the importance of open communication and reassurance during these key developmental stages.
I prioritise regular, clear communication with parents and carers, always making time to provide updates and gather feedback on how things are progressing. By fostering a collaborative approach, I ensure that each child’s needs are met and that parents feel informed and supported every step of the way.
With my extensive experience as a registered Childminder, my mindful, child-centered approach, and my understanding of the importance of communication, I strive to create a space where both children and their families feel comfortable and confident.
My Qualifications
I am a fully registered Childminder with a PVG Disclosure and have completed a preparatory course in childminding through the Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA). In addition, I have undertaken Child Protection Training and a two-day Paediatric First Aid course to ensure the highest standards of care and safety. I am committed to ongoing professional development, dedicating a minimum of 15 CPD hours each month to further training.
With my background as a Mindful Psychotherapist, I integrate mindfulness into my care approach, particularly for children with neurodiverse needs. My setting is designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and responsive, ensuring that every child feels supported and valued.
I offer:
• A calm, sensory-friendly environment with dedicated spaces for quiet time and play.
• A strong focus on open communication with parents and carers, providing regular updates and seeking feedback.
• A personalised, child-centered approach that meets each child where they are, promoting play, self-regulation, and socialisation.
My aim is to create a nurturing, mindful environment where all children, including those with additional support needs, can thrive.
