About Me

My name is Maria Maia, I am fifty-one years old and have three grown up children that have all moved out. My hobbies include long walks in the country, hiking/ rock climbing in the Lake District, as well as other locations, one of my most recent ventures being parachuting in Brazil. I am an extremely active person combined with a positive approach to life. I have an outgoing reliable personality and can be versatile to adapt to any situation. I am a driver with a clean driving record and a non smoker.

I have been a live in, sole charge nanny for over fifteen years now and I find looking after children very rewarding, as it is a great joy watching the little ones grow up and knowing I was a part of their life. In many cases I still see the children whenever suit myself and the families. As a nanny I strive to provide the best care for the children, it is important to be fun, creative and make safe boundaries where I treat the children with respect.

Looking after children is my passion, especially with younger ones. Social interaction is essential from a young age, I am experienced arranging playgroups/ play dates, taking the children to music and sports lessons. I like to keep the children active especially during the school holidays, I take them to museums, parks, farms, painting and baking where all the children of different ages can have fun. I have extensive experience in different development stages such as; potty training, feeding, weaning, bathing and preparing the child for the arrival of their little brother/ sister, starting pre school, as well as using my skills to help your child sleep soundly through the night. I have been trusted to proxy parent on various occasions for sometimes long periods of time. On a day to day I make sure the toys, clothes, playroom, nursery and kitchen area are clean and organised.
