About Me
Hello! I’m Beth. I am a trained actor and qualified primary school teacher. I now primarily work as a performing arts facilitator, running my own stage school and taking workshops into schools. I have recently finished working in Saudi Arabia, setting up the first performing arts school for locals out there but now I am back in Surrey and would love to start part time with a new family!
On the weekend, my husband and I love walking through the Surrey Hills and National Trust gardens with our gorgeous Cocker Spaniel puppy, Minnie or visiting the theatre.
My Experience
I have 10+ years experience caring for and teaching children of various different ages (from newborn to teens) and needs.
I have been a nanny and babysitter for multiple families and am very confident in the role of carer. These roles required responsibilities such as potty training, speech and language development, sensory play, sleep training, tutoring, dinner preparation, bathtime, organising days out, organising social life and play dates, pick ups and drop offs. I feel I have a natural connection with children and can bond easily with them, as I believe it’s all down to understanding them at their level, and being able to have as much fun as them. I am compassionate, high-energy, fun, engaging and empathic to their needs. I believe in gentle behaviour strategies that are rooted in a positive reinforcement approach. I am firm but very very fair and kind. Difficult behaviours don't phase me - I've seen and have strategies for them all.
I have an extensive range of knowledge and experience of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Two children I previously nannied for were on the autistic spectrum.I have also taught many different types of abilities including ADHD, dyslexia, Asperger Syndrome, Hearing Impairments, Downs Syndrome and delay in Speech and Language. I myself have high-functioning ADHD and see it as an absolute superpower.
I love helping children to learn, so taking homeschooling sessions and assisting with homework tasks wouldn’t be a problem. I am happy to cook healthy meals and can help you out with light housekeeping duties.
