My Summary
About Me
I started childminding in 2011. Before this I spent sometime as a stay at home mum looking after my daughter, when she started school I went back to work but really missed being able to drop her off and pick her up from school. This gave me the idea to change careers and I have never looked back. I offer a homely environment, where I encourage children to learn and develop at their own pace, we try and spend a lot of time outside and attend various toddler/childminding groups. I am inspired my the 'Montessori ethos' and try and bring elements of this into my work.
My Experience
I have experience working with children of all ages, both through childminding and bringing up my two children. I have worked at nurseries and schools during work experience at university and in voluntary positions. I started a degree in primary education, with a specialism in the early years. I did this for 2 years before deferring to work abroad, teaching young adults with english as a second language. Although things change rapidly in the world of education, I still feel the experience I gained and things I learned help me a lot in my work, especially the value put on learning through play.
