My Summary

My Experience

I have four years experience working with children in the early years between the ages of 1-5 years. I have experience working in both private and local authority nurseries; were my responsibilities included using my creative skills to create , plan and implement child-led learning experiences, based on the children's interests, needs, prior learning and the age and stage of development of the individual. I also cared for the children, observing and joining in with their play , to build on their skills, to develop their knowledge and to take forward their own individual learning, were I implemented my theory of childcare such as policies and legislation, including The Curriculum For Excellence and Pre-Birth To Three when working with the under three's. I ensured to provide stimulating experiences which encourage children to explore, experiment and to learn about their world around them. At university, I have learned about Equality and Inclusion, ensuring to provide a diverse anti-discriminatory pedagogy when working with children, to ensure all children are included and feel confident to be the unique individuals that they are. I have also learned subject areas of childcare including child development and health and well-being. I am then able to apply this knowledge into my practice when caring for children and their learning. In addition, I have experience in high school taking part in a buddy scheme , where I helped and supported younger children with their literacy and reading skills through a voluntary programme. I have also got experience volunteering in a charity shop, which is not child related however has given me appropriate skills, needed when caring for children including team-working, communication, patience and problem-solving skills. As well as the ability to use my intiative.
