About Me
Hello, my name is Karen and i am an Ofsted registered, NNEB qualified childminder (graded Good) and based in Upper Stratton. I'm happily married to Stu and mum to Ollie who is 9 years old. I was a nanny for 21 years so I have lots of experience with all ages as well as excellent references. I decided in 2017 that it was time for me to register as a childminder so I can juggle work and family life a little bit easier!! I love working with children so hanging up my nanny boots and starting my childminding business seemed like the best answer and Handy Childcare began.
We have a 3 bed house in Upper Stratton with a dedicated play room, we are conveniently located close to the A419, A420 and M4. We have a park on our doorstep as well as a library and a large open space for exploring and playing. I have a good selection of resources and love creating small world play and we enjoy messy play as well as a large secure garden.
My setting is a warm, loving, 'home from home' environment where you can have peace of mind that your child will be well cared for, but most importantly they will learn through play and have fun! We go out every day, come rain or shine and visit parks, woods and the local area. Hopefully soon we shall be able to enjoy story time, the farm and toddler groups again.
We have 3 very friendly cats, Lottie is 8 years old max is 3 and Tommy is 1. They are very much part of our family and adore children.
My Experience
I was a nanny for 21 years, during that time I cared for many different families with ages ranging from 6 months to 12 years. I am also a mummy so have the relevant newborn experience.

My Availability
I work Tuesday to Friday and from January 2025 I will have a full time space available for an over 1 year old.
I collect from Ruskin Junior school and currently could collect more children if needed mon-Fri 3-4.30pm
