I am a very positive and bubbly individual who is always on the go and enjoys being very busy! I love to go sailing, surfing and paddle boarding and enjoy the occasional road cycle too - So if you haven't already guessed, I LOVE being outdoors and because I am from typical rainy England I don't care what the weather is like!
I am a really hard-working and determined individual and love spending my time with children of all ages. Having spent three months working at a special needs camp in America, I realised that I love caring and helping young children. My personal qualities include being enthusiastic, polite and bubbly, as well as being self-disciplined and determined. I am hard working, well-organised and conscientious; setting high standards for myself and others. I am most definitely a 'clean freak' but I think in this line of work it might be a good thing!
I have a mature outlook on life and, because I am an extrovert, enjoy interacting with new people. I am a friendly and confident person who is determined and always willing to learn and try new things. Others would definitely describe me as warm, compassionate and very empathetic.
I am always smiling, laughing and getting the most fun out of every situation. I love life and believe that I am a good energy to be around.
I am 26 and the youngest child of a family of 5. I have two older sisters who are currently 28 and 30. We are a very close family who have loved every second of our upbringing. The most exciting aspect of my family is that I am an auntie! I have a nephew who is nearly 5 years old who has ASD & ADHD and a very lively 3 year old niece whom I am very close to and look after regularly.
I work from home as a consultant and my work is very flexible.
My Experience
have studied Education Studies and Special and Inclusive Education BA Hons for the last 4 years.
I have had overseas placement experience working with an occupational therapist for 3 months in Sydney, Australia, as well as having experience for 2 years working as a teaching assistant in a classroom in England.
I have also completed a season at Camp America for 4 months for individuals with severe special needs ranging from the ages of 7 - 89 years old. This position involved This position involved working 1:1 and 3:1 on a 24 hour basis for continuous sessions which lasted 5-12 days assisting children, youth and adults with special needs including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, cerebral palsy, behavioural difficulties, visual and audial impairments, spina-bifida, quadriplegia and tetraplegia. The main duties included providing personal care such as; Toileting, changing clothing and bed linen, showering, changing nappies, feeding, brushing teeth, brushing hair, insuring medication, assistance with catheters and enemas, transferring and lifting, assisting with early morning and night time routines.
I also have completed qualifications in: Counselling, First Aid and Safeguarding Children. I am also currently completing a course in children's mental health.
I have been an auntie for nearly 5 years and have taken care of my nephew on a weekly basis for a few days since he was a tiny baby. I have changed every nappy, cleaned every sick bowl and have had to get the first aid kit out a few times!
I have also worked in a primary school in England for 2 years working as a 1:1 support assistant for a little boy with autism. I worked mainly on his social skills within the setting but also helped the teacher with his educational journey too.
My Qualifications
I have an Education and Special and Inclusive BA Hons Degree & 13 GCSE's A*- C.
