My Summary
About Me
4 times Ofsted graded OUTSTANDING
I have been an Ofsted registered childminder since 2002 with my last 4 ofsted inspections being graded outstanding, the last one being March 2020. I offer a home from home environment where children's individual needs are met and children become part of a large extended family. We go out in the morning to local parks, playgroups, softplay, and also have a willows farm membership where we go to play and see the animals, garden play, lots of resources to explore, investigate, encourage children’s curiosity and build on their imagination through play, etc; Children have cooked food daily and I offer a balanced nutritional diet, ensuring dietary requirements are taken into consideration. Children under 12 months parents should provide their daily food due to sterilisation issues otherwise after 12 months they are also catered for. There are areas available for quiet/sleep times. I currently am guided by the early years foundation stage curriculum which all children are engaged in allowing myself to determine if children are meeting their development goals. A daily diary and pictures are sent via WhatsApp so you too can follow your children’s learning journey, thus promoting working in partnership with parents. Children partake in a wide and varied range of activities during the day/week and just recently we harvested and grew butterflies which was a fab activity for all ages and the children took turns to help look after and feed them. Children are invited into my setting and once settled they truly are comfortable and treat my home just like their own offering a unique home from home setting. I also offer a drop off and pick up service at present for Whitings Hill School.
I currently have vacancies available from September 2022!
My Experience
I have been registered since 2002. I have two children of my own who are now adults and both at university. I keep updated with changing legislation and strive to be part of a fast pace profession ensuring I offer to the best of my ability a service which nurtures and cares for your children so that you their parents can go to work with peace of mind that your children are being cared for, having fun and learning.
My Qualifications
I have done many courses over the years and of course first aid, safeguarding training is refreshed on a regular basis. I completed a BA (Hons) degree in Early Childhood Studies which has provided myself with further insight into how children learn, child psychology, how play stimulates a child, enables the thought process, helps them to think through situations and to learn through trying, with a positive attitude. This all helps children to become well rounded balanced individuals and gives them a vibe for learning not only to become independent but to want to always learn, ask questions and find out new things for themselves.

Debbie cared for our daughter for approximately 10 months from the age of 16 months.
She helped immensely with the transition of our daughter being without us for the first time as she was born during the lockdown. They developed a good bond and she became comfortable in Debbie's setting somewhat quickly.
We have found Debbie to be very professional and knowledgeable in her approach to childcare. She has encouraged our daughter to engage with different activities both at her home and outside which has helped to build her confidence and independence. The childcare setting is cosy and comfortable for the children with a good variety of educational toys, activities and outdoor play to aid their development. Debbie is supported by a close-knit family in her setting.
From the start, we have always been provided with detailed updates of our daughter's day which we have appreciated and it has helped us to feel more comfortable and worry less!
Debbie is hard-working, focussed, understanding and has gone that extra mile to ensure our daughter is comfortable and secure in her environment. We highly recommend her as someone who would have a positive influence on a child in her care.
My eldest is about to leave Debbie's care after 9 years and my youngest will remain with Debbie until it is his turn to go to secondary school. We could not be happier or more satisfied with the care and love they have received. As my eldest son said himself "Debbie has been my mum away from home!"
This is a great setting with lots of activities and stimulation for all ages, both mental and physical. Every day there are planned activities that challenge and develop the children in a fun way. Debbie takes them out every day. Places include local museums, Willow farm, the park, playgroups, the forest, the library or soft play. She has a great range of toys and books at home to keep them interested. Through play, she gets the youngest prepared for school so they are ready and confident when the time comes. She is excellent at teaching them to follow rules and respect boundaries and others.
We've been kept informed throughout about our children's progress through pictures and journals as well as more formal reports. Any issues or concerns are raised straight away and dealt with together.
She has been very understanding and flexible when unexpected issues arose meaning we would be late dropping off or picking up.
She is professional and always has the children's best interest in mind. She offers meals with a balance diet in mind.
Her Ofsted inspections have resulted in a well-deserved outstanding rating for many years. We cannot find anything that may need improvement either so all that is left to say is "Thank you". For anyone looking for a childminder, we believe this is the best place to be and cannot recommend her enough.
Debbie cared for our daughter 3 days pw since she was 16 months old until she started reception last September and now during the holiday periods.
Debbie is caring for our son since he was 4 months old until today and counting (he is 2.5 years old) now 4 days pw.
They both have a warm, loving and secure attachment to Debbie who provides a safe and stimulating setting they enjoy attending every day.
Debbie has strong family support around her from her husband and two children (now in university) and we have gotten to know her and her family very well over the last 4 years.
Debbie's continuous investment in her education, she has a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies, is a testament that this is a vocation to her and it permeates through every aspect of her care. The day is scheduled with the children engaging in educational and stimulating activities. A typical day involves going out in the morning to either Willows Farm, a park or forest area and playing in the playground, doing mark-making, gathering, telling stories and imaginative play, then returning home for lunch.
Debbie will set up activities in the afternoon with her many educational and playful toys which can include playing with sand, arts and crafts, water play, doing races and growing butterflies.
Debbie is engaged with the children and I have seen them return to her for comfort when they need to.
Any disagreements between children are dealt with kindness, compassion and in a way to promote empathy in the children and understanding of the other while establishing boundaries.
Debbie has ample downstairs conservatory and play-room space with well-organised toys and educational materials that the children can explore. Her outside walled garden is truly remarkable, offering shade and sun and many activities the children can explore all afternoon long.
During term time we receive daily detailed reports of our child's day with pictures of the day's highlights.
As parents we feel grateful and relieved that we have Debbie caring for our children. Our son looks forward to his day at Debbie's and misses her during the holidays. She is a safe anchor in his life.
Our daughter left Debbie's last year a confident, independent and empathic little girl who was more than ready for the school setting. She loves returning to Debbie's during the holidays and re-connecting with her fond memories of her time there.
Any parent would be lucky to have Debbie. She is well organised, accessible, has good boundaries and is always available for advice. Debbie's March 2020 Ofsted outstanding assessment (and those before that) are truly well deserved.
