About Me

My local School is Wheatfields Nursery and Infants & Juniors with is situated within walking distance. I take older children that have grown in my care and provide breakfast and light dinner. The mix of the older children and younger children works really well, the older children love to play with the little ones and the little ones love the attention of the older ones. I also take and collect to Busy Bees Pre-School and Nursery at the Quadrant on Sherwood Avenue.

My home is close to some toddler groups (unfortunately not many have re-opened since Covid), The Quadrant, 3 parks and The Wick wooded area. I have single, double, triple and quadruple buggies - all with 5 point harnesses, rain covers, sun shades, cosy toes. I have reins and wrist straps should they be needed.
The ground floor of my home is open plan to include a large purpose built playroom with lots of toys and activities for children of all ages, as well as a garden with astro tuff covering decking to provide all year round outdoor play, with purpose built playhouse, ride on toys, see saw, tuff trays for messy play. I believe that children learn best through play with lots of activities including painting, drawing, sticking, gluing, cutting, play dough, singing and dancing, cooking, reading, puzzles, lego, dressing up and role play, camps and picnics, nature walks - just to name a few! I have travel cots in the bedrooms to provide quiet time for sleep, all with individual monitors. Any routines established will be driven by the children's needs and will be flexible to allow for spontaneity.
I provide freshly home made meals and adhere to likes and dislikes to the best of my ability. I have experience with baby led weaning.
My home is a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment, I build positive relationships with the children in my care and make sure? their individual physical and emotional needs are met so they can reach their full potential. I would like the children in my care to feel part of the family and thus are valued as a family member.
My Experience
I have been an Ofsted Registered Childminder since the year 2000 and my last grading was in with GOOD - July 2023 this report is available to read in my documents along with my qualifications and references.
I was originally approached to look after my friend's Son on a part time basis as her childminder had become ill and have never looked back. Indeed the second family I cared for had 2 children and they went on to have two more, I also looked after them both too - the eldest of that family recently got married and I was invited to the wedding. As families we have remained friends.
I love looking after children, they astonish me with their unique behaviour and reactions to the world around them. I curiously, step into their world of thinking and elaborating their own ways. I like to help the with a little hint here and there and watch where their imagination leads, just assist them to become themselves.
CHILDMINDING POEM
Little Children come to me, for hugs and books as such
I care for all their simple needs, I also fix their lunch
I pick up toys, I mop up spills, And sometimes dry up tears
I change their nappies, settle fights, and chase away their fears
I tie up shoes, I button coats, and push them on the swing
I really LOVE these kids you see, but there is just one thing!
Call Minder, call me Auntie, these names just might fit
But please don’t call me sitter, because I never get to SIT!!!

My Availability
Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm. I work throughout the year and have 4 weeks paid annual holiday which I tend to use in the school holidays - Summer, Easter and Christmas. Any holiday I take outside these 4 weeks would be unpaid.

My Fees
- Childminding from £8.50 per hour
My fees include nappies, baby wipes and nappy creams, sun cream unless there is a particular one you would wish me to use, all healthy meals, snacks including but not limited to: Oatcakes, bread sticks, crackers, a wide range of fruits and berries, greek yogurt, cows milk, oat milk, almond milk or water. I have had experience with allergies and can adapt food to suit, I have had epi pen training, carry piriton with me and emergency contact details. Formula milk to be provided by parents. Local Toddler group visits, craft and play activities, visits to other childminders' settings forming a strong bond with other children. Janey has given our children a wonderfully warm, affectionate and happy environment over many years. She has always been reliable, professional in her dealings and has made sure the children are cherished - so important for me to have peace of mind when I'm at work. Our children have flourished under her care, and I have been thrilled with the fact they are "minded" in a caring, home-from-home approach.

On having my first daughter, I was lucky enough to have a very close family friend who was a trained Nanny and registered childminder so without any thought at all, I used this individual to look after my daughter when I returned to work who wouldn't, the children grow up knowing one another and accept them as family and you have no trust issues and you share the same values, everyone commented on how lucky I was.
However when my eldest started school it became apparent that logistically my fantastic arrangement would no longer be suitable, like all parents I had sleepless nights about leaving my children with a stranger, would they settle, would that individual share my values on how to bring up my children could I trust them to do so when my back was turned etc, etc. Then quite by chance I met Jane at a children's party and in a group of adults was discussing my need for a new child minder, Jane mentioned that she would have places available due to a family moving away and with some trepidation we agreed to a meeting and a visit.
My youngest child would be with Jane for 3 days a week and from the very first moment that she walked in to Jane's house, she made herself at home, sat down on the floor and started playing with the toys, she chatted away to Jane like she had known her for years and in that first 30 seconds I knew that I had found the childminder I had wished for.
I have never looked back and have seen it as the best decision I have ever made for my children, if they can't be with family then Jane is as close to that as I am ever going to get, my children adore her and my eldest cannot wait for the school holidays so that she can go to Jane's.
They are cared for and loved in a family setting that caters to their every whim and fancy, Jane has energy and patience beyond anybody else I know and the children love her for it.
In short if you are looking for a childminder, then look no further as you have found gold.
