About Me

My name is Bev, I live near to junction 4 M65, I'm married to Dave, and i have 2 grown up children and 2 grown up step children. We have 6 grandchildren age from new born baby to 12yrs. I have been childminding for 6 yrs although I've had experience with lots of children for over 40 yrs . Making the decision to childmind full time was the best decision I've ever made . I now love my job and all the children. Im a small setting with a great setup , i only like to have a few children at any one time so i can give them my full attention.
We spend a lot of time outdoors , with the messy kitchen, bug hotel, fairy garden and in the summer house where there are lots of resources. We love trips to parks, play grounds, woods , museums, shops and plenty more. We also like to go to play groups so the children can experience larger groups . I can't promise that your child will come home clean, but I can promise they will have fun and be loved. I plan their activities around there interest as well as intruduce them to new experiences. I follow the eyfs and I'm constantly observing the children to ensure they get to their full potential. I work closely with the parents and support the children with any activities they do at home . This is a home from home setting and the children have free and easy access to toys and resources, and they help decide what our day will be. We are. Big lovers of the outside and like to do lots of messy activities out in the woods or forests and down by the river, we take all our supplies and enjoy painting or glueing while we are out.. We often take books to read in the open spaces and we don't the rain stop us, we just jump in puddles and make rainbows. As long as the little ones are happy and learning while they play we are all happy and learn so much from the natural outdoors
Covid update,
As the virus has had a massive impact on everyone's lives, it has done the same to our setting. We now spend much more time out in our garden where we have a lovely new reading nook, and lots more outdoor activities, we have a heated summer house that the little ones use for roll play with the kitchen, babies, and tools work shop. or we go to the local woods and nearby parks. We still do messy play but use more individual trays for fresh made play dough which they help to make, or water play and we love getting stuck into a bit of gardening which we are all learning about together. I have safe areas for the younger ones with mats down and shade for the sunnier days. We are now back to full play after covid with trips further afield, play groups and soft play centers. We still follow covid advise as and when it changes as we do with any viruses and my main priority is to keep all our children safe, happy and learning, ready to take on the next stage of their life's journey
