About Me
Hi , My name is Gillian and I live in Hebburn with my Husband David, our son (18) and our very friendly cockapoo dog.
As an Ofsted rated 'Good' childminder, I am DBS checked as are my husband and both our children. I have up to date Paediatric first aid, food safety, child protection certificates and I have a NVQ3 in children & young peoples workforce (childcare).
I provide toys and equipment for children of all ages, suitable for the children to play, enjoy and further their development. We visit lots of varied and interesting places on a regular basis such as playgroups, libraries, parks, soft play, sensory rooms,farms and museums to name a few.
I aim to provide a friendly, caring and safe environment for the children and their families. Risk assessments are carried out on my home,car and places we visit regularly. I have public liability insurance for my home and business insurance for my car, the child's safety is paramount.
I work with St Aloysius' Nursery,Infant and Junior schools in Hebburn
Smoking is not permitted in our home.
My Experience
I've worked as a childminder for over 13 years now but I've worked with children for many years, before childminding this mainly involved craft sessions, storytimes and baby bounce sessions while I was an assistant librarian.
I have volunteered for a number of years in playgroups.
I spent a lot of time helping in my daughter's school in different lessons. I also volunteered in a local hearing impairment unit, helping children in their lessons using sign language where needed.
I have two children of my own as well as a grandson and numerous nieces and nephews, so I have experience of children of all ages. I have also cared for children with a wide range of additional needs/disability.
Being a coeliac myself (Gluten free), having had several mindees who are dairy/soya free and family members who are diabetic, I have a good understanding of special dietary needs..
I've completed child devlopment training and safeguarding in a digital age training.

I work Monday - Friday 8.00am - 5.30pm but I aim to be as flexible as possible to suit the needs of the parents.
