My Summary
About Me
I’m a happy, calm and patient person who is always willing to get stuck into a job. I have been nannying for over 5 years and my duties have included caring for the children, cooking them healthy balanced meals, making the beds, cleaning up after the children and around the house during nap times, bathing them, doing the bed time routines, taking the children to classes, school drop offs and pick ups and occasionally laundry.
I am passionate about following a gentle / positive parenting approach. I love exploring and learning through nature with children, helping to nurture their curiosity about the world. I like to support children’s imagination and cognitive skills through a lot of open ended activities such as water play, arts and crafts and play dough. Socialisation is also a massive part of childcare for me so I’m always out and about with the children taking them to music classes, messy play groups, the library, swimming, soft play, farm parks, the space centre and garden centres. This gives the children an opportunity to interact with children and adults of all ages in various environments, improving their communication and social skills, empathy and independence. I enjoy being in the kitchen and getting the children involved in cooking healthy well balanced meals. I am keen to teach the children what goes into their meals / where the food comes from. Cooking with the children also encourages them try new foods and feel proud of something they have created. As well cooking their main meals we often get up to a lot of baking (there’s always yummy treats for parents too)!
My Experience
I have been studying and working in childcare for almost 6 years. Over that time I have completed my Level 3 Childcare and Education Diploma and GCSE in Childcare and Economics at an A*. During my studies I did voluntary work at Upp Starts nursery, Little Angels nursery, Belton Pre-School, Leighfield Primary and C of E Primary school, covering children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
Since becoming a fully qualified childcare practitioner I have worked in Pen Green children’s centre as a nursery nurse, working with children aged 9 months to 2 years.
Most of my childcare experience comes from being a nanny which I have done for the past 5 years. Being a nanny has enabled me to look after children from newborns right up to young teens. Two of the families I nanny for have had 3 children 3 and under, so I’m used to working with many young children at one given time. I have also nannied for 1 year old twins so have twin experience. My main focus has been on the first few years of life working mostly with ages birth-4 years. I have done a lot of newborn roles so I’m very comfortable with young babies, I’m currently training to be a maternity nurse so will further improve my skills and knowledge.
I’m happy to - and often do - work all different hours of the week, including evening babysitting, overnights and proxy parenting when the parents are away. I have also spent the last year and a half working as a travel nanny helping families all over the world so if you’re looking for someone who can also join on family holidays or work trips I’m well experienced in that area too!
I am extremely passionate about childcare and feel lucky to get up and be excited to go to work. I’m always looking for new ways to challenge myself, widen my knowledge and gain more experience.
I am happy to provide references from any of the families or childcare settings I have worked with. I am also able to be flexible with my hours. Please message me if you have any questions!
