I am a qualified teacher with over 20 years teaching experience in the primary and secondary educational sector. I have successfully occupied the position of Head of Department in 7 primary schools and 5 secondary schools. My first University degree is in English Literature. I also studied Children’s Psychology and have a Postgraduate University degree in Business. I am a published author of 9 educational books. I am also an accredited educator in Understanding Children's and Young People's Mental Health.
I enjoy working with young learners and I am passionate about helping them reach their full potential. My teaching experience in private and state educational settings over the course of over 20 years, has always made me feel that publications were not enough to address all of my students’ learning needs and did not represent what I wanted to teach. That is how the idea of writing my own material was born and I have been writing ever since.
I feel that sometimes young learners get lost in 30-pupil classrooms in school settings and I am passionate about offering them that personalised attention and focus, exploring their different talents (writing, numeracy, problem solving skills, word puzzles, reading etc) and helping them develop them.
I studied children’s psychology over 20 years ago during my university years and have always been fascinated by it. I was one of the first educators in my field to integrate practices based on educational psychology in my lessons. I am still reading and expanding my knowledge base and I am enthusiastic about using my knowledge and expertise to help my students improve their confidence and develop a strong growth mindset from an early age.
My Experience
I believe that every child is special and has talents. School settings are not always focused on exploring these. My mission is to identify my students’ talents and help them develop them.
Most classrooms in state and independent educational settings operate with ability structures in place (where children work on different ability material following assessments). Two thirds of the children in a classroom, therefore, will never have a chance to challenge themselves and reach their full potential. Sadly, this is also true for tuition centres who only accept students that achieve a high score in their initial baseline assessment, so that they can then present higher pass rates on their marketing campaigns. I strongly believe that a tutor’s worth is not presented when working with a child who is currently performing at 85% and with support they reach 90%; but the true meaning of quality tutoring lies when working with a child who is currently performing at 45% and with the right support they are able to perform at 75% within a matter of months. That is the definition of a tutor’s success in my book.
My mission is to offer all children, regardless of current level of ability, the opportunity to grow and develop their skills. I always offer opportunities for work on material that is one level beyond my students’ expected level of performance and I support them in reaching their full potential. I always offer honest, valuable feedback on written assignments, without being critical. When errors occur, I help my students to recognise them as stepping stones and improve their performance.
I always applaud effort and implement reward schemes to celebrate hard work and not just outcome.
Through my tutoring practices I promote good mental health and support my students in believing in their abilities, being confident and open to explore opportunities presented to them. I am passionate about helping my students develop a strong growth mindset, which will enable them to be successful later on in life.
My Qualifications
I hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a Bachelor (BA Hons) in English Literary Studies and a Postgraduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) from the University of Central Lancashire, UK. I also hold a Diploma in English from Nottingham International Study Centre, a First Certificate in English from The University of Cambridge, a Proficiency in English from The University of Michigan and have attended several certified teaching courses, such as:

I was astonished by the improvement my son had within one month of starting the lessons. Mrs Tatsi is well organised and passionate about her job. I will definitely choose her for my youngest son as well, if I feel that he needs support. Highly recommended tutor.
