My daughter was 13 months old when she started with Sue (was meant to be when she was younger but was postponed due to lockdown). I visited Sue when my daughter was 5 months old and had an initial meeting. I instantly felt at home and immediately warmed to her and the setting. Sue was warm and friendly, and the room was colourful with lots of toys and resources. I snapped Sue up immediately and looked forward to my daughter starting.
She has a great time at Sue's. It really is a home from home, and that's what I love about it. I get daily updates and can text Sue any time night or day and she'll be there to reply. My daughter feels at home there and loves the rest of her family too, as well as the animals! She loves all the activities that Sue does with her - colouring, painting, drawing, baking - as well as playing in her large garden with the multiple play activities and mud kitchen. I really feel comfortable and confident leaving my daughter in Sue's care while back at work.
Sue also provides nutritious meals and snacks which my daughter loves. The toys and playroom are deep cleaned regularly to ensure high levels of hygiene and cleanliness.
Unfortunately we have moved to a new area, which means my daughter will be leaving Sue's excellent childcare setting shortly which we're heartbroken about. I will miss Sue and her family as much as my daughter will. I know I won't find anyone so friendly, amazing and easy to talk to to look after my daughter. If I could, I'd bring her with me! I'm sure she'll be hearing from me for tips and guidance along the way!
Anyone thinking of Sue to mind their children should have absolutely no hesitation, your children would be so lucky!
Sue was a great find. From the moment I went to view her setting my boys were at home instantly and started exploring and warmed to Sue straight away. The playroom is very colourful with displays and a wide range of toys to engage all ages.
She provides wonderful activities that a lot of thought and time go in to preparing the best experiences for the children. Some to name a few are; cooking, crafts, seasonal play and outings. These are all documented in personal learning journeys. I love reading through them when they are sent home, looking at all the progress made against the EYFS framework. Sue also provides targets and helped me to work on them at home as well. My boys love playing in Sue’s large garden, especially in the mud kitchen, they enjoy helping out with the chickens and playing with the animals.
My eldest is about to start nursery, I was able to have a meeting with Sue prior to applying to nurseries and she was so knowledgeable and allowed me to make the best choices that suited our needs. Sue helped by making sure he was ready by encouraging and supporting his independence.
I totally recommend Sue, She is a total professional and always has the children at the center of learning and plans activities based on their interests and extends their knowledge and skills.
We will miss Sue greatly.
As a working mum childcare for my 9month old boy at the time was my priority, we found Sue on this site and after my first visit I knew this was where my boy was going to be spending the rest of his time before nursery. And I’ve never looked back since, to the point where I actually have to persuade my little boy to leave most days!
Sue has provided a stable, warm, caring environment for my LO where play is at the center of learning. He loves going and playing with his friends, sue ensures that each day they do fun activities such as baking, painting, crafts and often takes them on little outings. My LOs development wouldn’t have been the same with out this as he has learnt so many new skills here, which is also documented in a folder which we get to take home and see each term. It also shows me what skills he’s learnt or learning and what Sue is going to do to encourage the next learning skill. Sue has created a home from home environment providing yummy healthy meals and snacks which my LO just loves.
Recently my littlest one has been introduced to Sue, and he is only 4 months old, I would never leave him with anyone else but i trust Sue implicitly, and again he has settled in so well, and is very happy to be there. Leaving him at such a young age has been hard for me but knowing he’s loving his time there just makes it so much easier for me to go to work with no guilt.
If I could keep my boys with sue forever I would! She has been amazing, trustworthy, honest and I couldn’t recommend her more. If you are lucky enough to have your kids looked after by her you will know what I mean!
Just thinking about leaving my 3 months old daughter with a complete stranger was the scariest thing! At my initial meeting with Sue, I spent quite a while in her home just observing the interaction between her and the children. I saw the genuine love and care she showed the children and how they interacted with her and my mind was made up. The environment was a happy relaxed one, I did not need to see anyone else and I have never regretted my decision.
My daughter has been well looked after since the day she started and she is almost 4 years old now, about to start nursery. whenever I drop her off she is always eager to go to Sue and Vicky and never in a rush when I go to pick her up. Even when she's at home, she's asking if she is going to Nannie Sue. Sue takes the children out and about to playgroups, where they can interact with other children. She takes them to parks, garden centres among other places. My daughter loves being read to and loves books and Sue has massive amounts of books for the children to use. She has educational toys which helps the children to learn. Sue has a big garden with lots of outdoor toys for the children to use. They are taught to love and care for animals as well. Sue and Vicky keeps a clean and well maintained environment for the children.
The children do a lot of arts and crafts and my daughter is always coming home with something that she makes. Sue and Vicky charts her progress along each milestone in her life and I am kept up to date with whatever she is doing. Sue and Vicky runs a discipline environment and the children are taught to respect and care for each other and to share with each other. My daughter is a very well rounded, confident and intelligent little girl which everyone comments on when they meet her. A lot of that is due to Sue and Vicky.
Sue and Vicky provides nutritional meals for the children everyday, and they eat together at mealtimes. My daughter can feed herself, put her clothes on by herself and put her shoes on and off. She loves being independent at times.
Sue and Vicky both are like family to me and my little girl and takes an interest in her life and development.
A big thank you to you both for the excellent and amazing job you do in looking after my daughter and all the other children in your care.
I am updating my review after writing the first one when our daughter was just a year old. She has just turned three and its amazing to think that she has been in Sue and Vicky's care for nearly 2.5 years!
Our daughter is now a well-rounded, happy & confident little girl ready to move on to nursery, a clear testament to the outstanding care that she has received during her time with Sue and Vicky.
Here are just some of the bigger milestones (there are too many to list):
- Solid Food: When our daughter started at Sue and Vicky's she was still on pureed foods. They encouraged moving her onto a healthy, balanced diet and so with my help (advising what she would and wouldn't eat) we created an initial menu plan which we scaled out each week as she became more confident with the food. Today she eats what we eat (although she does have her favourites).
- From Crawling to Walking: Our daughter was always going to start walking early and when she did (at 11months) Sue and Vicky were there to encourage and capture every moment. We have endless videos and photos of her attempts which are amongst our most prized possessions.
- Potty Training: This is a scary thing for most parents but Sue & Vicky helped us with each step along the way. We stuck 100% to their advise and guidance, copying everything they did during the week at home and we managed to do it completely painlessly in the middle of the winter in 2 weeks. Our daughter has never regressed and is so independent now that she doesn't need us to help her with any aspect of her toilet routine anymore. Totally amazing.
- Friendships and Respect: During her time at Sue and Vicky's she has formed some real, strong friendship bonds, skills which will stand her in good stead for the future. They encourage eating together, playing, outings and interaction. They enforce a strong set of rules and are very discipline-orientated with the children so that they respect, share and and empathise with each other.
- Self-Care: With Sue and Vicky's help our daughter has been taught basic self-care including brushing teeth, brushing hair, putting on and taking off her own shoes, putting on and taking off her own clothes and a toilet routine.
- Reading and Numeracy: Our daughter has always loved reading and being read to. Sue and Vicky have encouraged this with book-themed weeks and games. Her numeracy and basic math skills are impressive as they encourage counting, early subtracting and addition as well as problem solving.
- Love of Animals: Sue and Vicky have understood how important it is to make a child aware of her surroundings. Not just people and places but animals too. They have helped foster our daughter's great love and fascination with animals, to respect and care for them.
Its impossible to list all the things that Sue and Vicky have helped us instil in our daughter. They have been instrumental in shaping her critical early years and we will be forever grateful. We are moving to a new area and she will be going to a nursery now, but if we could we would never take her away from Sue and Vicky. Thank you for being our family.
