About Me
Hello, my name is Nicola and I am an Ofsted registered childminder located in Walderslade Chatham.
We are close to M2 and also M20 aswell as being on the bus routes in to the Town centre. School drop off and collections from St Thomas More RC Primary (0.3miles).
I have been childminding for 15 years and live with my husband, 19 year old daughter and our Cocker spaniel called Poppy.
I was graded OUTSTANDING with Ofsted on my last inspection in 2022. I am first aid trained, hold a current CRB check and safe guarding training. I also have public liability insurance along with all the relevant insurance for my car to transport the children.
My setting offers a safe, secure environment where the children are encouraged to feel at home. We have a vast range of resources such as small world, construction, role play and musical instruments to name a few. Arts and craft and cooking sessions are also enjoyed. We have a large, secure garden which offers a swing and slide set, sand and water trays, ride on bikes and our much loved mud kitchen area filled with household resources such as pots, pans, scoops and whisks.
The children and I often enjoy adventuring out of the setting to the local parks, exploring the woodland for the Gruffalo and little brown mouse, visiting the local library to have a look at different stories and attending toddler groups. We also like meeting with our childminder friends!
My Experience
Before I became a childminder, I worked as a Nursery Nurse in a busy day nursery in Gillingham where I worked with all age groups from birth to five. Whilst working at the nursery I completed my NVQ level 2 in childcare. Once i became a childminder i completed a Cache level 3 in home-based childcare. I am now completing my final year as an Open University student, where I have spent the previous six years completing a Childhood and Youth Studies degree.
I believe I have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the statutory requirements from this and the requirements from Ofsted to provide a safe, fun, learning environment for all children.
My Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 in Childcare
Level 3 Cache national diploma in home-based childcare
I have also attended various courses such as Safeguarding, risk assessments, first aid, observation, assessment and planning and also EYFS (Early years foundation stage) planning and development.
BA Hons In Childhood and Youth Studies.
