About Me
Hi my name is Julie and I’m an Ofsted Registered Child Minder graded Outstanding at my last inspection in June 2022, working in the Leeds 15 Temple Newsam/Halton area.
As a 2 x Outstanding and Advanced Child minder I offer the highest quality care and education for each and every individual child. As studies and professional personal experience shows the early years of a child’s life are the most important for any child’s development and future.
I live with my two children and small friendly pet dog in a spacious and well equipped semi-detached house in a quiet area. I provide a very loving, safe, fun and educational home environment with lots of activities for the children to enjoy and learn from, where both children and parents are very happy.
There is lots of space indoors which leads out to a very safe and secure well designed and equipped playing area with both paved and grassed areas to enjoy. The space allows for lots of fresh air and space to exercise and learn.
We also take advantage of the local amenities around us such as Temple Newsam estate and farm, local shops, library and much more for regular outings.
As an Advanced Leeds City Council Child Minder I am also eligible to deliver the 9 month, 2, 3 and 4-year-old educational free funding.
School drop off and pick up is from Templenewsam Halton Primary School and Nursery.
My Experience
I am an experienced Childminder with over 15 years experience and a mother of two.
I have experience of childminding very young babies too in addition to my own to children.
I had always wanted to work with children and always cared for friend’s children on a regular basis.
I have also done voluntary work at my daughter’s nursery for 4 years working with a variety of different age groups and abilities.
My Qualifications
I have an NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care Learning and Development. This is a work based qualification and therefore, proof of what I do was required to qualify.
I am also an accredited Childminder which means I am be able to offer free education sessions for those who qualify.
I keep myself up to date with the latest childcare information by doing regular training.
I have attended the Leeds City Council training programme for Childminders and have a clear CRB check
Paediatric First Aid
As a Childminder I am always working towards increasing my qualifications to give the best sevice I can.

Rare opportunity for child under one year old to join my small setting, available after the Easter 2025 Holidays.

I also have various availability for children who attend full time education, including holiday cover.
Working Hours:
07:30- 17:00 Monday to Friday.
I am unable Bank Holidays

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.50 per hour
I charge a very competitive rate. Please call for details.
I can also offer the free 15 & 30 hours places if your child qualifies.
I am also happy to accept childcare vouchers and parents supported by the Care to Learn scheme.

Julie Tod has been my daughter, Tessa’s childminder for nearly a year. My husband and I have found her to be excellent in every aspect of our daughter’s care. Julie has been extremely professional and reliable and has not had a day off in the whole time she has been our childminder. Tessa was nearly ten months old when she began going to Julie’s twice a week and has always been happy there. She enjoyed her settling in sessions and has always been excited to go to Julie’s, running through the door once she had learned to walk. Tessa has a significant amount of time one on one with adults on the days where she doesn’t go to Julie’s and it has been really beneficial for her to play with the other children, which she enjoys.
Julie has always kept us informed about Tessa’s day through the use of a notebook, which has been really useful in case we forget to ask how much she has slept or what she has eaten. In addition, the tracking of Tessa’s progress against the EYFS on the online site Orbit has been a fantastic way for us to monitor Tessa’s development. My mother has also been able to add photographs and notes about Tessa on the days when she looks after her.
Julie is caring and kind and Tessa has brought homemade cards home on special occasions and often takes part in activities related to books or topical events. There are a wide array of toys and books in Julie’s playroom and Tessa loves playing there. Julie encourages imaginative play, reading and counting, which Tessa loves. Furthermore, there is an excellent outdoor area with lots of toys for days when the weather is dry.
Julie and Tessa have a fantastic bond and one of the saddest parts of our move out of the area will be that Tessa has to change childcare.
