About Me

My name is Nicky and i am OFSTED registered childminder in Littleover. I work with my sister Kelly who is also a OFSTED registered childminder and has a son off her own. We are both qualified in childcare I have NNEB qualification Kelly has level 4 qualification
we have both worked in a nursery before becoming childminders myself working as early years Co ordinator for 11years and Kelly for 4 years as senior nursery nurse before leaving and having her son which is why she set up the childminding business 9 years ago with me joining 7 years ago.
We use the downstairs off our house for minding which offers two seperate playrooms one off wich will be converted into a sleep room if/when required. The large play room has double doors out onto a play area for trees etc and the dining area has doors out onto Astro turf playing areas. We also have two greenhouses which the children grow their own things in. We also use the dinning room kitchen for meals/snack, messy play and art work. We also have a downstairs toilet.
We are close to a number off schools and currently offer school drop offs and pick ups, We do school holidays as well. The schools we currently do are wren Park primary in mickleover, Carlyle infant school, St. Peter’s junior school and Brookfield primary school.
We take regular trips to the local park situated at the bottom of the street taking every chance to look and explore the environment. We also have our own allotment with a nature area which we let the children explore and grow things in. We get out everyday to enable the children to have a run around. We visit soft play centres, toddler groups, and other childminders as well as occasionally going out on outings to the farm, zoo etc.
The children all learn through play and we do lots off things throughout the day including art work, messy play, story time and music time.
The advantage of there being 2 of us is there are 2 sets of eyes and we only ever close bank holidays if one of us goes on holiday the other works.
