About Me
I have many years experience working with children of all ages and their families. I began my career as a nanny and nursery nurse and had my own daughter, Lauren, in 1998. I spent 17 years at a local primary school as a higher level teaching assistant. Since leaving teaching in 2018 I have been a team leader working with teenagers on a Summer residential programme and have been a nanny/mother's help for a new baby and her three year old brother. Since visiting Alderney in the Channel Islands in 2019 I have been working in hospitality and in 2023, I married my husband Mark, and became step-mum to Nyla. I am currently Front Office Manager at a four-star hotel but cherish all my memories of my childcare career. Although I live on a small 'rock' in the Channel Islands, I am still available for temporary care, especially as an event nanny across the islands and the UK. My Experience
I'm a qualified level 3 nursery nurse/nanny and level 5 higher level teaching assistant with many years experience working and caring for children from new-borns to teenagers in various settings including home, nurseries, hospitals and schools. I am flexible and have often worked with two or more families over a period of time, for example, providing part-time childcare to a nine-month old baby, a toddler and offering school tuition to two teenagers, as well as raising my own daughter. I have been a personal carer for a child with additional needs for 11 years and have experience in supporting children with a variety of requirements including dyslexia, global developments delay, autism, diabetics, epilepsy and ADHD.
My Qualifications
I have a BTEC Nursery Nurse qualification, a Foundation Degree in Education, a Foundation Degree for Teaching Assistants and a Paediatric First Aid certificate. I have many other qualifications taken independently and within my school setting. I also have a current DSB certificate and recent safeguarding certificate. I have home childcare insurance to cover babysitting and nannying roles.
My Availability
I am currently living and working in the Channel Islands but I may be able to carry out temporary work as a holiday or event nanny depending on the dates and your requirements.
