About Me
At my last inspection I received Outstanding (2018)
I live in Jarrow with my husband and son (daughter born in 1991, lives away,, and a son born in 1995.)
We live in a terraced house near the centre of jarrow, with a menagerie of animals:
Flip (Degu)
Dottie and Lottie (Leopard Geckos)
Tropical Aquarium
Ninja our cat
Gizmo and Smokey (Guinea Pigs)
I think there's room for us to live there, too - and the little ones love to watch the daily ventures. I have noticed that the menagerie can help settle a child, too!
We are an extended family which enables younger children to have older "siblings" to call upon, and the older children enjoy 'helping' the younger onees to settle.
Having gained Outstanding in 2010 I took part in the Ofsted Pilot Inspection for the Early Years Foundation Stage, and gained Outstanding on this occasion, too
- going to London to meet with Ofsted and feedback on my experience .
Following an interview I succeeded in gaining the voluntary position of Facilitator for South Tyneside PACEY Local - providing support, etc to ALL registered childminders / nannies in South Tyneside and (currently) the surrounding area, which has now changed to PACEY Champion. I work closely with PACEY and their Head Office, ensuring I am able to support others to the benefit of Parents, Children and their Carers.
My Experience
I have been a Registered Childminder since 1999, and in that time I have seen a lot of changes - none more so than the Early Years Foundation Stage, which has seen us become more accepted as the professionals we are.
I have cared for children from 5 months to 12 years, and have found each age to be as rewarding as the next. With experience, I have learned to identify individual needs for the children in my care - working with parents - parents know their child better than anyone.
As the ex-Chair of Governors (and a parent) for Clervaux Nursery School, I have an awareness of the High/Scope Approach to childrens learning, which I have also followed up by attending High/Scope for Childminders. I have also been a Parent / Governor at Hebburn Comprehensive School.
I attend training on a regular basis, and am constantly requesting new / varied training.
I occasionally work with the local College / schools to provide a placement for students
I was lucky enough to be asked to supply childcare for a grandmother whose daughter was getting married. She wanted to see more of the wedding than she had at a previous wedding, and asked if I was available. This is a new venture, and one I am hoping to expand upon
My Qualifications
I hold a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, and Food Hygiene (also registered with Environmental Health as a food business).
I have also gained:

the Open University's Introduction to Counselling
the Open University's Understanding the Autism Spectrum
Diploma in Home-based Childcare (Level 3 - Grade A)
NVQ 3 in Child Care, Learning, and Development
N.C.M.A.'s Quality First (Level 3)
Other training I have attended, over the years, amounts to over 200 certificates (ask if you would like to see them) - too many to list here!!!
I am also working towards my Degree in Early Years.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £5.00 per hour
- Childminding from £3.50 per hour
Fees are dependent on individual requirements, however, a guide would be:
£ 40.00 per day 8:00 until 18:00 - earlier starts may be available day dependent
£ 170 per week
Hourly rates £3.50 ( for a minimum of 3 hours per day, 4 days per week) are available for wrap-around (before / after) school care Please contact me for actual costs
