About Me
Hello everyone.
My name is Roxanne, I'm 39 and mummy to Skyla (11) and Logan (10).
I have been a childminder for 5 years now and it is my absolute passion.
I have a thriving nature led setting based in an outdoor heated polytunnel space in an extensive garden. But we also use our cottage in extreme weather conditions.
I am currently without any availability on other days until Sept 2026. When I will have one Tuesday and Thursday space available.
I am both a National trust and English Heritage member and excursions are a big part of our daily routines.
In a usual day or week I would hope to include forest school, nature walks, crafts, home made baking or making playdough, farms and foraging for any seasonal fruits to make into tasty treats together.
I will be providing, healthy, homemade snacks with a big focus on growing our own food in my garden..
Im very excited in anticipation to hearing all about your little individuals, will be great to meet you all soon.
Thank you

When we started to look at childcare options for our 1yo twins we were only really looking for a nursery. Both of my older children had been to nursery so it seemed to be the obvious choice. As I was researching I came across Roxanne’s profile and the focus she put on the outdoor activities seemed ideal.
My twins started a little later than expected due to Covid but it was totally worth the wait. The twins love their time at Roxanne’s. They have such a fabulous choice of activities each day from mud pies to bug hunts to bubble blowing, they love the messy play!
Most days they day trip somewhere for an adventure, lots of splashing in streams and playing in trees... I honestly could not have expected how amazing their childcare experience would be
The only problem I have encountered is that my 5 year old felt she was missing out..... so Roxanne has accommodated her and she can’t wait to start next week
An absolute diamond and exactly how childcare should be done!!
Roxanne is warm, kind and friendly and seems to understand children's development needs in great depth. She is extremely creative and motivated. Roxanne is continually learning something new, completing online trainings to enhance her child minding role. Roxanne is dynamic and adventurous: she role models all that we hope our daughter to become, fearless and confident, interested in exploring, sourcing or building and clear about her boundaries. Roxanne's child centred approach means each child she looks after is responded to in a way that encourages them to grow and be themselves. The children's individual thoughts wishes and desires are tailored into the daily activities, enabling them to be thought about and involved. Roxanne has a positive attitude and approach to each day, sharing videos of our daughter's enjoyment and progress and interactions with her peers helps my husband and I to feel connected to her, even when we aren't physically present. When I have questions, Roxanne has always taken the time to respond clearly and authentically reassuring any worries we may have. Roxanne genuinely cares and it is evident from the previous reviews also, that those of us who have our children in her care, feel blessed to have found such a gem.
Roxanne is a marvellous child minder, I simply cannot recommend her enough. Roxanne has created a home from home environment for all the children. My daughter simply loves Roxanne and I can understand why, because she is friendly, enthusiastic, motivated and very accommodating. Roxanne encourages educational values to all the activities the children undertake. Roxanne provides home cooked healthy foods for the children to eat. Roxanne is somebody who we parents can trust to the right thing for our children when we are not around. And that gives me confidence to get on with my working life knowing that my daughter is well cared for.
Our little girl is almost two, and she joined Roxanne and her little explorers for full days from a few months ago; she has absolutely loved it right from the start. This especially surprised me as she was at home with me for the first year and a half, so it was a huge change for her, but she has so much to get stuck in to, the environment is very positive and engaging and she loved Roxanne immediately so had no trouble settling in.
Roxanne is a brilliant childminder, so bubbly, happy and full of energy and incredibly creative ideas which focus around the children’s individual interests and learning focus points. Our little one loves crafts and is constantly creating amazing little projects involving things from the kitchen store cupboard and pieces they’ve collected whilst on nature hunts - amongst other things I have a beautiful pasta bracelet and a conker caterpillar :)
One of the main reasons I chose Roxanne’s little explorers was that having visited a lot of other settings I wasn’t keen on the idea of our little one being indoors for a large part of the day, we’re an active and outdoorsy family and I am keen for her to learn about, and love the great outdoors.
I’d also like her to learn about where food comes from and get involved in growing and eating fruit and vegetables from an early age. So I was pretty bowled over by Roxanne’s set up, as she has chickens and home grown fruit and veggies in her garden, which the children all help with. She regularly incorporates the home grown fruit and veg into the day’s meals and baking with the children which I think is brilliant, and helps to give them a real interest in good food. Ours was becoming a little fussy with her eating and Roxanne has improved this 100% getting her to eat and enjoy new foods and I’m so grateful for this.
An important point to mention is her organisation and the varied but structured routine, all her little tribe know what’s what and are happy and secure. Each day consists of a good and bad weather option, and rain doesn’t necessarily mean they’re indoors hooray!
Summer especially has been incredible - splash parks, paddling in streams, meeting farm animals, running around woodlands and enjoying the outdoors in the morning. Then healthy snacks, naps, home made lunch and an afternoon of activities back at her house usually in the garden, paddling pool or using the tuff tray setup that’s different every day.
Our little one had the added benefit of being with Roxanne’s lovely children Skyla and Logan for most of the summer too, they’re brilliant with her and I’m sure she sees them all as an extension to the family!
Winter activities are shaping up to be just as exciting with a range of different activity days and playgroups in the morning, and tuff tray based creative activities in the afternoon.
Our little girls talking, numeracy, knowledge and happy, confident character have developed incredibly well over the past few months, and in no small way due to Roxanne’s hard work.
Roxanne has a lovely daily diary which goes back and forth which tells me everything they’ve done, eaten and what activities have worked particularly well for capturing little ones imaginations for example. She does periodic reviews with parents to report back on where little ones are on the EYFS curriculum and works with us as parents on areas to build on.
Also I get photos and videos every day throughout the day, which I absolutely love to see!
I trust her completely with our little ones safety and well-being and appreciate that she lets them be kids and explore whilst having a keen eye on this.
In summary...I can’t recommend Roxanne highly enough she’s just fantastic and we’ll definitely be with her until school and beyond.
Roxanne is amazing with our 2 year old who is extremely shy. Poppy our daughter cannot wait to go to Roxanne each morning she runs in with no hesitation. Something which we found she struggled with at nursery.
She takes her absolutely everywhere and they have such adventures which is lovely instead of the humdrum of the same everyday. They go to the park, play group, woods, garden centers, etc.
Roxanne is relaxed caring and calm which is always good with children. I loved getting updates each day about where they’ve been.
Her setting/home is clean and provides a great environment for children. It’s relaxed and inviting.
Poppy comes home with a smile on her face, a full tummy and absolutely shattered after a great day.
I’m so pleased we chose Roxanne she’s a absolute star. A pleasure to have her caring for Poppy and actually feel so happy we chose her and thankful that we found her.
