My Summary
About Me
Hi and welcome to my home from home setting. My name is Barbora, but my friends call me Bara.
I am a kind, caring and creative, Ofsted register childminder, qualified Teaching Assistant and a proud mum of 2 talented and well mannered boys aged 13 and 16. I absolutely love children, I admire their curiosity and eagerness to learn. I want all children in my care to feel happy, safe and to make long lasting memories.
I live in a light and spacious house with a large garden in a quiet part of Shortlands. I follow the same statutory guidance as any other nursery preschool and early years setting, delivering broad and exciting curriculum for the children under the age of 5. My focus is for all children under my care to be school ready. My setting is small in numbers, it’s very personal and very much tailored to each child that comes to me to support their individual needs.
I carefully plan activities and resources for the children in my care, taking into consideration their ages, abilities and most importantly their interests, ensuring there is always something exciting to do for everyone. The children are encouraged to play as I understand that play is crucial to the learning and development of children. They are encouraged to be independent thinkers and doers... they can choose from large number of arts and crafts resources, loose parts, dressing up costumes, toys, natural resources, building resources, role play resources, books and more. We love to spent lots of time outdoors. We go out every day, rain or shine. We meet with other children from another local childminding setting on regular basics, we go to toddler groups, play groups, classes and visit the local libraries. We have exciting trips out, the most favourable amongst the children are the Christmas Tree farm, Horniman Museum or National Trust & English Heritage places such as Emmets Gardens, and local and not so local parks. We want to truly understand the world around us which is why we love to go strawberry and pumpkin picking every year and also visit the lavender fields in Surrey for some amazing sensory experience.
We, in no circumstances play computer or console games or stare at tablets and mobile phones! We use online resources to extend our creativity and enrich our knowledge. We tend to have a little rest time watching telly towards the later afternoon when we are all feeling a little tired after our busy day.
As part of the statutory requirement, I offer healthy snacks, occasional treats, simple but tasty and healthy warm or cold lunches and balanced home cooked dinners. There is a large bowl of fruit on the dining room table which the children can help themselves to if they feel peckish. I do not give children chocolate treats or sweets. I discuss healthy eating habits with the children every day as part of our lunchtime routine.
Our household is complete with our pets. We have a handsome, crazy and people loving cockapoo and 2 fluffy rabbits.
My Experience
My career in the UK started as an Au-pair some 20 years ago, caring for young children whilst studying English. I worked as an au-pair, babysitter and a live-out nanny for the duration of 2 years.
Since 2005, I moved to an office based job in a local government services which I decided to give up after 13 years with the view to pursue a career in childcare and education, to fulfil my long lasting passion.
As well as working as a part time before and after school childminder (2018 onwards), I spent 2 years at a Primary School as a voluntary Teaching Assistant studying towards Teaching Assistant qualification, which I gained in 2020.
In 2021 I decided to extend my part time childminding services and pursue the childcare sector as my full time career. It enable me to do the job I fell in love with in my own space and under my own leadership.

Our little one has had a wonderful time with Barbora and we couldn’t recommend her enough. We are relocating and leaving Barbora’s has been the hardest part of the move. Barbora is a passionate and caring childminder who wants to do the absolute best for the children.
We had previously been at a nursery but we got frustrated with the constant changes in her key worker and lack of consistency. Barbora was recommended to us and we were lucky that she had a space available at the time.
Since going to Barbora’s Childminding our little one has come on leaps and bounds developmentally. She's grown in confidence, and now she’s growing up to be kind, thoughtful well mannered. She’s built a lovely bond with the other children in her care and it’s so obvious it’s a great experience for all the children.
We get daily updates and pictures via WhatsApp as well as weekly menus, activities planned for the week and themes/books/topics the children are focussing on. It’s always easy to get hold of Barbora throughout the day if needed which is great.
We really like that the children go out everyday to a different playgroup or out on a trip so it feels as though they are getting the best dedicated care but also socialising with wider groups of children.
Our little one talks about Barbora all the time at home and is always excited to go in the mornings. It’s the best decision we made for her and we can only hope we find someone even half as brilliant in our new town!
Barbora's setting is a place where children thrive, learn, and grow. We greatly value her dedication and individual approach to our child. The hours spent outside every day, healthy meals, and a variety of daily activities focused on all aspects of a child's development, such as dance classes, library story time, museum visits, and trips to various parks, are truly exceptional. Children socialize beyond their 'group' at playgroups and are encouraged to become independent. Barbora follows a pre-school curriculum and the learning continues through play and involving children in activities such as baking or exploring nature.
Barbora is energetic and kind, and children love her. She is very transparent with parents and sends regular updates and photos from their days.
The two years with Barbora have been essential for our daughter's development and well-being. She became confident and is absolutely ready to start school.
Barbora has been an absolute blessing for our family! Our child looks forward to every visit with her, and it’s evident how much joy and excitement each day brings. Barbora creates a nurturing and stimulating environment where the children thrive. The variety of activities she plans is exceptional, with a wonderful mix of educational and fun experiences. Our child particularly enjoys the creative arts and crafts sessions and the outdoor play in the garden. Barbora’s attention to each child’s individual needs and her dedication to their well-being are truly commendable. Communication is always clear and consistent, with regular updates on our child’s development and plenty of photos to share in the memories. We highly recommend Barbora’s childminding services for anyone looking for a caring and enriching experience for their child!
Above all our daughter is so happy going to Barbora’s every time! There is a weekly program that they follow and it’s great to see them out and about constantly learning new things. Our favourites are: library sessions and farms/ parks trips. There is always clear communication on weekly and daily basis on plans and learning progress and lots of pictures to capture these beautiful moments. Really recommend Barbora and her setting!
My daughter has been with Barbora since she was 2 and two months. It will be 2 years soon and we absolutely love it as does my daughter. She has grown to be such an independent little lady.
Setting: Barbora offers a wide variety of toys and activities with careful consideration to weather and season. The children often pick their toys, activities making them independent decision makers. She has a big garden and lots of room in her home. The food is nourishing and she often incorporates different cultural cuisines which helps the children learn about different cultures and be more acceptable to new flavors.
Communication: Barbora keeps us informed with growth reports and daily pictures of how’s the day is going. We also get monthly updates of the plan (books, events, activities) for the upcoming month. She follows the pre-school curriculum with lots of aids and activities. My daughter can spell and write her and her peers’ names, has perfect number & alphabet (almost) recognition and can count up to 20 with ease.
Highly recommended.
