My Experience
My family and I have recently relocated from Buckinghamshire to beautiful Shropshire we have a very big garden so I will be running a lot of my childcare provision outside in the form of Forest school, outdoor learning, stem sessions as well as all the other activities.
Of course Children’s care and safety will be my upmost priority. Please feel free to contact me for further information on how this will be undertaken.
I have cared for children from six months, to fifteen years most of the children I have cared for have been with me from very young.
My setting is based around the Forest School approach, nurturing children’s natural curiosity.
I offer lots of activities, from play gym sessions to music groups, regular Forest School sessions outdoor learning, and trips out.
The children also get to be hands on with the animals helping to car and learn about them.
I am always thinking of new and exciting activities to help children learn and grow into confident thinking, resilient, caring children ready for pre school/big school.
Some of the activities I offer include
A bespoke built large mud Kitchen with lots of exciting built in gadgets. Sand and water play, maths station, pick and mix potion station, numerous play tray activities, regularly planned for and rotated) a digging discovery area. This is always an ongoing project and was noted as being inspirational by Ofsted.
All of the activities I offer are planned for to encourage the child led approach/ critical thinking and will also have a scaled down easily assessable version to enable all infants I care for to be involved, learn and achieve.
Parents will receive regular information on their child’s development in the form of digital journals, regular catch ups, assessments/checks including two year and subsequent yearly progress checks.
Children are also give reading journals and opportunity to borrow books to share with parents (this service will be amended during the coronuvirus outbreak, instead I will upload story time for children to enjoy with parents) as well as their own two/three way diary’s to share any exciting information on their development WOW points between other settings and home.
For my older children I run a fun let’s get ready for big school program so they are best prepared and confident for their next big adventure!
I am able to offer the funded element to parents with children from age nine months from September 24 and also take funding for two and three year olds already.
I offer regular planned forest school sessions a fantastic and holistic learning experience covering all areas of development.
I am passionate about my work it is so important to me that children have happy memories of early childhood, and that their time spent with me is full of wonderful experiences, and opportunities to learn, achieve and share these experiences with their peers in a loving, caring enabling, nurturing and safe environment.

Katrina has cared for our daughter since she was 8 months old (with settling-in sessions before then). She's incredibly over-qualified for her role, with a degree in childcare, qualifications as a Forest School Leader, and decades of experience; and you can tell from the amount of effort and creativity she puts into the children's activities and trips, that she genuinely loves what she does.
Our daughter absolutely adores 'Trina' and is desperate to get in the car on Monday morning to go and see her, and the other children. As first time parents, knowing that she's being looked after by someone who genuinely cares for her, and that she's being supported, challenged and having fun every day, is a huge relief. Her development has come on so quickly with Katrina's support, and she even got her sleep schedule under control too!
The setting is wonderful, with a dedicated playroom and a gorgeous big garden, perfect for all the time they spend outdoors (our daughter particularly enjoys collecting grass to feed the chickens), and the activities they do are so fun, imaginative and educational - the forest school puppets are our favourite.
We're so lucky to have Katrina in our lives and can't recommend her services enough.
Katrina has looked after my son from the age of 2-4 and my daughter from 1-4. As an anxious first time mum, Katrina quickly put my mind at ease about going back to work and I knew after not very long that I could trust her completely to do the right thing by my children, and all in her care. You honestly feel like she cares for them as if her own. She is a lovely, warm, reliable person with strong morals and family values.
Katrina's house is a wonderful environment, full of educational and fun toys and her garden is "so much fun". Forest School is a big part of their lives which means lots of exciting outdoor adventures, and she only ever feeds healthy food and snacks.
I can't emphasis enough how lucky I feel to have had Katrina in our lives for the past 5 years. My children are going to have many happy memories of their childhood because of her.
My daughter has been cared for by Katrina the past year since she was 11 months old. Prior to this my son attended as a young infant. Katrina exudes warmth and enthusiasm in all aspects of her care. Her wealth of experience enables her to care well for children of all ages, needs and personalities. I always feel confident leaving my daughter knowing she will get all the love and cuddles she needs and she is always happy to be there. Katrina is very imaginative with her play and has the most amazing range of outdoor craft, messy play and apparatus. Her whole family play a big part inthe children’s lives and it is clear this is far more than a job for Katrina. She comes highly recommended.
Without doubt one of the best childminders you could find! Katrina has looked after my son from when he was 18 months to 4 years old and I don’t ever recall a day when he was reluctant or upset to be left - quite the contrary. Each day has been imaginatively and creatively filled with amazing activities and for me a huge plus is Katrina’s focus on outdoor learning, which my son has absolutely loved. He thinks Katrina “is great. She has really good games and I love Forest School because I get to be outside, make new dens, listen to stories, watch the Forest School puppets...”. Both my children have also been with Katrina during the holidays and that is genuinely guilt free holiday childcare as they have amazing adventures which they come home raving about. On a practical level, Katrina is one of the most reliable childminders you could come across, cooks very good healthy food and is exceptionally caring, yet firm with the children. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Katrina.
I was delighted to have come accross Katrina. Looking for a local childminder that could take both my kids together was my primary criteria but I go so much more from her. She has this very caring way with children, whislt being firm enough that they respect boundaries. Katrina does a lot of activities with the children and take them to different places but also allows them to spend a fair amount outside which they enjoy very much.
Katrina works very well with organised and reliable parents but also has a very practical outlook on life. She is friendly yet professional.
My son has really thrived in her environment and his language has come along greatly. He absolutely loves Katrina and can't wait to see her, which is really pleasant.
Definitely a childminder I will miss!
