My Summary
About Me
Hi, my name is Charlotte and I'm an experienced OFSTED registered Childminder.
I live with my Husband, Martin, our 14 year old son Oscar, and our two daughters Matilda (11) and Betsy (10) We have two small friendly Dogs and Chickens.
Our home is on a quiet road in Kingsdown and we have lots of space indoors and out for children to play and learn. We are also near to the Beach, Woods, Park and Play-groups.
I drive so we can visit the Zoo, Castles, other parks and playgroups further afield.
Following the current EYFS and drawing on influences such as the curiosity approach and Hygee, I provide a wide range of toys and activities for children of all ages and plan activities around their individual needs and interests.
To me the whole idea of sending your child to a Childminder is to give them a home from home experience and I like to work closely with parents to ensure that children have consistency between here and home and try to stick to your home routines as much as possible.
My Experience
During university I worked at an after-school club, Holiday club and Nursery.
I studied Early Childhood Studies at University. When I finished my degree, I spent six years working as a shift leader in a children's home before leaving to have my son in 2010. I then spent a year working as a year 6 Teaching Assistant to a young person with autism at a local Primary School.
In 2011 I decided to take up Childminding and haven't looked back. I love how the children I look after have become part of our family. Some of the older ones even get the bus home from secondary school for dinner! The mixed age ranges of all the children seems to have a very positive effect and really helps with their confidence and social development.
Alongside childminding I have spent the last year working for the Department for Education as a mentor on their Covid recovery scheme.
