Hello,
I teach at a local secondary school and currently offer 11+ tuition (4 subjects) as well as English/ Maths only tuition.
I am a qualified Secondary and Primary teacher and an 11+ tutor.
Both of my children attend Grammar school in Tonbridge. I have helped other children (face-to-face and online) who all have been successful in gaining places in Grammar schools.
I will start by assessing your children's level of attainment and will let you know any areas where they need extra support to be in line with their Year group curriculum.
In my opinion, it is crucial that parents and a tutor work as a team to secure success. I will provide advice and recommendations on how you could help your child at home.
Additional expense will be necessary to get practice books but I do provide my own homework too.
I will provide feedback on the progress to the parents.
For 11+, a few weeks before the formal exams, I would ask children to complete timed tests to get them used to the strategy on how best to compete against the clock during the actual test.

Lydia is a tutor to both my children in year 2 and 4. She helps my children keep on top of their year group as well as getting ready for the 11plus. Lydia is incredible with my children and creates a highly tailored approach and I couldn’t recommend her anymore!

Lydia is currently tutoring my year 4 aged son for his 11+ exams.
She is a wonderful tutor, very patient and kind but also thorough. Lydia goes above and beyond to provide feedback after every session as well as homework to support the home learning. I've seen my son grow in confidence with his English/handwriting since starting his tutoring sessions and he's been introduced to a lot of new material not covered at his current school but all relevant for the 11+ exams. She is always encouraging and engaging and my son enjoys his time in his sessions with her. I highly recommend her tutoring service.

Lydia starting tutoring my oldest daughter last year, in preparation for 11+, and I am so happy we found her. My daughter wasn't responding to us at home when we tried to help her with her schoolwork, and we were starting to worry. My husband and I both work full time which doesn't help. However Lydia brings out the best in her. She tutors in a way that's engaging and patient, my daughter actually enjoys her lessons! She gives us honest and practical feedback on my daughter's progress, and is kind enough to give her special coaching for particular tests.
I know lots of parents who use tutors for their kids, either on a one on one basis or in groups. The difference with Lydia is I can tell she genuinely cares, and that means a lot to us.
Whether my daughter passes her 11+ or not, I am confident we're doing everything we can, and Lydia is 100% the right person to support her. My daughter's confidence has soared since she's started working with Lydia, we are extremely grateful.

We had a tricky journey with me being away and having to switch to an on-line tutoring for a big chunk of time.
I commend you as parents and your daughter for sticking to our guns and doing all the hard work which has now paid off.
