My Summary

My Experience

I am presently employed as a Sports Graduate at Kent College, where my role is to assist pupils aged 2-18 in a Pe setting to successfully access the learning and education available to them. I tailor the learning to the individual needs including general duties and other programmes being run, such as administration work. I also am part of the mentoring programme to students where this is a tailored programme to support and benefit the student, by providing 1-1 and group sessions help balance school and home-life. I see the purpose of this job role sports Graduate as maximising the opportunities of all students, notwithstanding their individual challenges and circumstances

As well as having worked at Heathfield I have been working as a principal care worker with a young female aged 14 with cerebral palsy. This includes assistance with her mobility and day to day living, help with her physiotherapy and swimming as well as academic work (homework and reading etc.) She also has poor speech and language and so I have learnt through practice and active listening skills to interpret what she is trying to communicate. For over the three years I have been working with her I have developed a positive relationship with emphasis on meeting her needs. We have established a personal rapport where she trusts and confides in me but also has the tools to be confident in being as independent as she can within her capabilities.

This year more so and within previous years I have often interacted with early years children. Both in private and educational settings, ranging from babysitting and childminding or assisting early year Pe lessons. During the school holidays I have also accumulated working in the school nursery so over-time have gained experience being responsible for very young children.

I have also had experience with a young person with SEMH, co-working with the school, social worker, parent and other agencies caring for her needs where opportunities could be created for her to be successful; socially and emotionally. This taught me in many ways how other agencies and systems work specific to home settlement and those who are looked after children.

My Availability

I am here to offer childcare during the school holidays as I know how hard it can be to find care for long periods of time during the holiday break. In addition if needed for some evenings and weekends for more regular basis more than happy to talk that through as well.
