Hi, I’m Maggie, and I run Avery’s Childminding in Bretton, conveniently close to the parkway yet nestled in a quiet and green space. Working with children has always been my passion, and as a mother myself, I truly understand the importance of providing a nurturing and supportive environment for little ones. I am deeply committed to every child’s development, celebrating their individuality while offering tailored support to help them thrive. Having moved from London four years ago, just before our daughter was born, I have loved building strong, lasting connections with families. In fact, I am still in touch with many of the wonderful children I have cared for over the years. At Avery’s Childminding, we create a warm, home-from-home setting where children can learn, grow, and flourish.
My Experience
At Avery’s Childminding, my husband and I are dedicated to providing a nurturing, home-from-home environment where children can flourish. Together, we bring a wealth of experience to our setting—my husband is an early years teacher, and I have spent many years working with children from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and family structures. We are passionate about ensuring every child receives the care and support they need while respecting each family’s individual preferences, values, and routines.
One of our key strengths is establishing strong, consistent routines that help children feel secure and comfortable in our care. From meal times to sleep schedules, we provide structure while also offering flexibility to suit each child’s needs. For naps, we ensure plenty of options, whether children prefer a quiet cot, a cozy nap mat, or a peaceful space in our home. We also have extensive experience in potty training, supporting little ones in developing confidence, self-esteem, and independence in their personal care.
Nutrition is another core aspect of our childminding approach. We serve freshly prepared, home-cooked meals packed with a variety of fruits, vegetables, and balanced ingredients to promote healthy growth and development. Every meal is thoughtfully planned to be both delicious and nutritious, ensuring that all children in our setting receive the energy and nourishment they need to thrive. We understand that every family has unique dietary needs and preferences, and we are always happy to accommodate special requirements.
Our setting features a beautiful, well-maintained garden, which provides an excellent space for outdoor learning. We believe in the benefits of fresh air and hands-on exploration, allowing children to engage with nature, develop physical skills, and enjoy sensory-rich experiences outside. Whether it’s planting flowers, playing in the sandpit, or engaging in outdoor storytelling, our garden is an integral part of the learning environment.
To enrich our curriculum, we also offer a fantastic weekly music session with the Music Man and a visit from Jo Jingles. These interactive sessions encourage children to explore rhythm, movement, and expression while boosting their confidence and communication skills. Music is a wonderful tool for early development, and these sessions bring so much joy and excitement to our week.
At Avery’s Childminding, we pride ourselves on being flexible and accommodating, understanding that every family has different needs and schedules. We are always eager to support parents and children in the best way possible, ensuring that each child receives the highest quality of care in a loving and stimulating environment.

Maggie has been with taking care of my little boy since he was 5.5 months old. She definitely knows her onions and is genuinely a kind person. You can tell over time that she's real, not putting up a front and this is not about the money for her.
One thing that I love about her in particular is that she listens and acts on feedback. I like that we both learn about my baby's growth and she takes in to consideration everything I tell her about my baby which is so important to me. His feeding, cleaning, and general care have been lovely with her and he loves her too.
She is also so warm and has a great relationship with every person she has worked with. This lady has an amazing community of parents around her and that's a green flag!!

Maggie is wonderful! Firstly, thank you so much for providing such valuable and trustworthy care. Not only was Maggie a caring and energetic babysitter, but she was also truly helpful in making my little one feel comfortable, happy, and easy to adapt to the new environment. She was very helpful in helping my son achieve his milestones. She is an expert at making delicious food and snacks that my little boy enjoys and asks for more. Her love for children is evident in everything she does.
My 2-year-old son got attached to her on the very first day, and he loves Maggie's family as they are all very loving. Little Avery is also very caring and loving towards him. My son loves all sensory activities and has made a lot of developmental progress. She also offers a lot of outdoor activities, singing sessions, musical sessions, and age-appropriate craftwork sessions.
I have full trust in her abilities to care for my child anytime. It was so nice to finally find a childcare provider that I could feel comfortable with right away. The best part is that Maggie is approachable at all times, and she always gives us updates about our son through audio and video texts, which makes us happy and keeps our minds at ease. I have to say that her flexibility makes our work possible and our life much easier!
Overall, Avery childminding is absolutely great and highly recommended. We love them and are thankful for their support, love, and care. 👍

When we arrived first time to Maggie's home, me, my husband and my son immediately felt welcomed into her home. She was enthusiastic and straight away I could feel that she was passionate about her job and wanting the best for the children in her care. Which put to me ease as this was the first time I was leaving my 4 month old in anyone’s care to return back to work. Now we are already one year together with her family and I can't imagine a better childminder.
Her facilities are brilliant and to a very high professional standard. I felt her home was safe, clean and well equipped. I believe she ensured all children are encouraged and supported to progress in her care. Overall my son are very happy in her care and enjoying time at her setting. I would highly recommend Maggie to anyone who is looking for a home to home environment, with a warm hearted childminder who really enjoys what she does.

We had Maggie to look after our son - she has been our part-time nanny for a year now and she is just amazing.
Maggie is a very caring and helpful person and very flexible and accommodating- helped out on so many occasion on my last minute requests. We couldn’t thank her enough for her help with our son and the house - we came back home to a very clean and tidy house and she always went an extra step and did laundry and bedding and other house bits for me which I appreciate so much.
My son absolutely adores her - she is so great with kids. She would do little activities with them, take them on bus rides and she always brought so many toys/ activities and snacks for him as well. My son has developed and grown so much since she joined.
Maggie and her lil beautiful girl Avery who came along, became part of our family and we are gutted she is leaving ( she is now a chilminder)
I have on a few occasions left my son at Maggie’s setting and it’s so child friendly.
She is someone who loves children and loves her job. I’ll take her back in a beat!

We absolutely love Maggie.
We needed help with our newborn baby during night time and started interviewing but couldn't find the right fit until we found Maggie. From the first moment she walked through the door she went straight to bond with the baby where as most nannies would seek to impress us as parents and chit chat, Maggie was all about the baby. We felt so relived to see how nice our baby took on to Maggie and how quickly they bonded. Maggie was always so respectful of our house rules, never wore any strong perfumes, would always wash her hands and just overall a clean lady. We love Maggie and her warm and kind manners we couldn't recommend her enough.

We started working with Maggie in February 2022. We were looking for someone able to take care of our 8 months old Daughter Julia and our 5 years old Vera and also being able to keep the house organised. The first day we met Maggie was with her daughter Avery (at that time was 4m old). At that time we decided that it could work for Maggie to take care of Julia and Avery, and Vera after school and for the last year it’s been working great as our girls are growing up as if they were sisters! Maggie has been doing an amazing job with them from day one and she has been always available for us any time we needed her. Always very helpful and supportive with me and my husband and the children made our life easier and happy. Julia now is nearly 2 and loves being with Maggie and Avery and also loves Oliver (Maggie’s husband), She is able to count and talk in Spanish and English and even some words in Hungarian that Maggie teaches her. Julia and Avery go to baby groups every day and have a good eating and sleeping routine. Also Maggie cooks amazing healthy foods for them every day.
We definitely couldn’t ask for more! I would recommend Maggie to anyone!
Maggie, Avery and Oliver will be always part of our UK family!

Maggie worked for us full time 5 days a week from 08:30 to 18:30 hrs. daily between 09/09/2019 till the 26/03/2021. When she started our son was only 6 months old months old and our daughter was 4 years old. At the time we had been overwhelmed with trying to care for the children, especially as I worked away from home. Within a week she had tidied the house, the children’s clothes were arranged neatly according to purpose, and she was hands on with the children. She was responsible for dropping and picking our daughter to and from school and caring for our son as well as keeping the house neat, tidy and clean. She very quickly got them into a regular daily routine, enabling us to have “our time” in the evenings. She would regularly take our son out for walks and to play centres. She also helped develop his language skills- people always were surprised at how advanced his language was. She also was great with cuddles for the children.
When the COVID-19 lockdown started, she was a godsend as she took over the online schooling for our daughter which enabled my husband and I to continue working without any interruption. She was able to be firm but fair with our daughter around homework etc.
Maggie has strong opinions around child rearing which a lot of parents would appreciate- she runs a streamlined, clean, tidy, and fun home and she uses her imagination to good effect when it comes to entertaining kids. She was friendly with us the parents and we still maintain close contact even though she has moved to a different county we visit each other regularly. She is also a wizard when it comes to getting kids toys to work. The number of our children’s toys she has revived is amazing!
Her time keeping was impeccable and her work ethic is really good. She even booked her hospital and dental appointments at weekends in order not to impact on our routines.
I would recommend Maggie to other families as a nanny.

Maggie came to our aid while looking for a permanent nanny and assisted us family with my two daughters, 2 and 4 at the time.
Maggie was very professional and the children took an instant liking to her. She communicated well with us and always had daily activities planned and ever engaging the children while teaching them valuable lessons.
Maggie is an absolute gem and goes over and above her normal nanny duties, always willing to help with any small chores around the house, which was always appreciated.
Maggie is now like part of our family and the kids miss her very much and we were sad to let her go as she was moving further away from London.
I will not hesitate to ask Maggie to help with my kids at any time as she is very trustworthy.
