About Me
I am an 'Outstanding' rated Ofsted registered childminder and have been for just over 22 years. I am also a member of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY). I live with my husband and 2 daughters who are 21 and 25 years old with our family pet Hugo the dog who is a beagle. As a family we enjoy spending time outdoors, walking in the Lake District and in particular skiing.
I have a warm, safe and friendly home with lots of resources for children of all ages and abilities. They can freely choose to play with toys and access them themselves. The children have access to an outdoor area where they can play with sand, water, ride on toys and a mud kitchen.
We spend a lot of time outdoors visiting local parks, nature reserves and wooded areas. We attend Forest Schools weekly which is an established group run with another childminder. This is in a small private woodland called Holly Wood. It is fully secure and equipped for little people. Here we do lots of activities such as bug hunts, camp fire cooking, climbing, den building and exploring our natural environment and learn lots of important life skills. All activities are adapted to ages of development.
We attend stay and play groups, have regular trips to the zoo and indoor play areas. We spend lots of time at the beach also. We spend lots of time with other childminders so the children make lots of friends out of the setting which is very important for social skills and forming relationships.
I am able to offer funded places for 2,3 and 4 year olds (15 hours free childcare). I also offer school holiday care.
All work place voucher schemes accepted.
I am very passionate about the service that I provide for you and your children and am flexible when it comes to meeting the needs of families needs.
I consider my own professional development very important and attend regular courses which enable me to learn and further gain knowledge to implement new ideas and strategies into my setting to benefit the children within my care.
My Experience
I have been a childminder for over 20 years and in that time have cared for children of all ages and abilities and also children with special educational needs. I have also experience of managing a preschool setting for just over 10 years.
I have completed the Early Language Development Programme as well as other Speech, Language and Communication training.
I have paediatric first aid as well as outdoor first aid ( Renewed regularly)
Safeguarding training and food hygiene training.
Forest Schools level 3 Practitioner Certificate and Beach Schools Level 3 Certificate.
BA hons in Early Years Care and Education and Early Years teacher Status.
My Qualifications
Ba Hons Degree in Early Years Care and Education.
Early Years Professional Status ( Lancaster University )
NVQ3 In Early Years Child and Education)
Paediatric First Aid Trained
Outdoor First Aid Trained
Nominated officers training (September 2019)

My Availability
I have full or part time places available for immediate start 5 days per week, hours available to suit. I can accommodate school holidays, drop offs and pick ups from local schools, please enquire.

My little girl Isabella went to great beginnings 3 days a week from being 1 till she left for school. Great childminder couldn't recommend Emma enough, always out and about with the children and doing lots of exciting activities and on some occasions my little girl didn't want to come home. Would always be there to help you out and would go out of her way to suit your needs. Isabella is now 5 and when she knows there is a school holiday coming up she always wants to go to Emma as she misses it so much so she does still attend. Lovely lady and we were made to feel part of the family. You will regret not using her :-) x
