About Me
I run a small, non-profit business based in Reading, with the benefit of largely being able to choose my own hours. I am looking for part-time work to compliment this job, either locally to Reading or closer to home in Blackwater (Surrey).
I am a step-parent to my fiancé's 9 year-old boy. Although not essential, it would be lovely to find a job that can fit naturally into school runs locally to us! I also do some voluntary work as a governor for my local primary school, and would need to be able to be flexible for 1-2 evening meetings a month. I have a full UK driving licence and a recent DBS certificate.
My Experience
I have been a nanny in the past for 8 children aged between 2 - 11 years old while studying at Reading University. I finished this soon after the pandemic during the end of my final year. I loved working with families, and am completely familiar with the need to be flexible and adaptable to last-minute needs!
I have some experience in educational settings, having spent time as a year 6 teaching assistant in a school in Cowley (Oxfordshire), teaching English as a second language to classes of up to 20 children, and have done a lot of ad-hoc tutoring work for English and Maths. My professional background is in academia and I have worked as a History lecturer at Reading University since 2018 - I would be very happy to support children with any of their school work and broadly any support in their educational needs.
My Qualifications
I have no formal qualifications.
I have a DBS and have regular safeguarding training. I was trained in paediatric first aid by St Johns Ambulance, but would need to update my training if this is a pre-requisite for you.
My Availability
I am very flexible with my current work, being able to generally be as flexible as necessary, but would not like to exceed more than 2-3 days a week on average (I would be able to do less/more on occasion if needed, such as during the school holidays).
