About Me

*I am currently employed but looking at options. Please message me if you think we might be a match!*

Hi, I'm Jess! I am positive, friendly and enthusiastic, and enjoy helping all children to have fun, and to achieve their potential. I have a degree in Early Childhood Studies, a foundation degree in Health Play Specialism, experience working with children with special needs, pre-school/nursery experience, paediatric first aid training, a current DBS check, and I have my own car.

Please message me with any questions.

My Experience

As mentioned, I have a degree in Early Childhood Studies, which involved a placement in a school for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), where I had the most wonderful experiences working with the children. I also hold a foundation degree in Health Play Specialism and have 2.5 years experience working with children in hospital. I have worked in nurseries for 2 years alongside, and after, University, before moving on to work in a school for children with autism. Here I worked on a 1 to 1 basis with a number of children and gained more experience in working with children with autism and behaviour that challenges.

I hold Diplomas in Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellness, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), Challenging Behaviour in Children and Young People, ADHD, and Home Education. I achieved Distinction in each Diploma.

I am paediatric first aid trained as well as fully DBS checked. I have my own car and a clean driving license of 11 years. I have 14 years experience looking after children of varying ages, from babies to young adults with special needs. I strive to build bonds with all those I work with, and believe it is equally important to have a bond with the families/staff I work with, as well as the children. I am a patient individual and am very tolerant of the varying needs of each child. I understand that all children are different, and that some can find it difficult to express themselves and form bonds. Therefore, I am keen to help children establish methods of communication and interaction that are suited to them, and that they feel comfortable with. I am confident, very caring and nurturing, both as a person and in my role.

I enjoy a variety of activities, I love animals and outdoor adventures, and also have a passion for music and theatre. I am organised and punctual, and always looking to further develop myself and my experiences, and build upon my previously attained skills.
