My Summary
Childminder In North Cheam
About Me
As an Ofsted Registered Childminder with a decade of experience in childcare, I have honed my skills in creating a nurturing and educational environment for children. My personal journey as a parent to three children, aged 10, 7, and 15 months, has enriched my professional approach to childcare.
In my practice, I ensure a diverse array of activities are readily available, fostering both creativity and learning. Regular excursions to parks, farms, soft play areas, local playgroups, and libraries form an integral part of our routine. These outings are complemented by culinary explorations, where I encourage all children to participate in cooking and baking, thereby enhancing their sensory experiences and practical life skills.
I am eager to extend an invitation to your child to become a part of our vibrant setting. Should you be interested in discussing this further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
In my most recent Ofsted inspection, I was awarded a ‘Met’ standard. The timing of the inspection coincided with my maternity leave, which precluded the presence of children in my care. Consequently, the assessment could not reflect the full scope of my capabilities. Nonetheless, I am committed to upholding the highest standards of childcare and look forward to demonstrating this in future evaluations.
My Experience
With a robust foundation of over ten years in childcare and an enriching three-year tenure as a Teaching and Learning Assistant in a local primary school, my professional portfolio is comprehensive. My commitment to child development is further exemplified by my experience with Special Educational Needs (SEN) children, providing both one-to-one support and contributing within a school setting. This has afforded me a better understanding of the diverse needs of young learners, acknowledging the individuality of each child.
To ensure the children in my care are developing appropriately for their age and stage, I conduct regular observations. These assessments are crucial in tailoring support to each child’s unique learning journey, fostering an environment where they can thrive and achieve their full potential.
In my capacity as a Childminder, I have had the privilege of working with children who had special educational needs. Initially, these children presented considerable challenges; however, through dedicated effort and mutual understanding, we swiftly developed a strong rapport. A key focus of our work together was enhancing their speech and concentration, areas in which they initially exhibited delays.
Adhering to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, I advocate for learning through play, an approach that has proven effective in fostering developmental progress. During their tenure under my care, I observed significant strides in their self-assurance—a transformation that did not go unnoticed by their parents or guardians. For a detailed account of this progress, I invite you to consult the attached reference letter.
My Qualifications
I studied Business Psychology at Roehampton University and my career began in the corporate sector, where I gained valuable industry experience. However, life’s transitions, steered me towards the educational sector. It was there, working within a local primary school, that I discovered a profound interest in child development.
This newfound passion led me to further my education in the field, completing an Introduction to Childcare course. Additionally, I have acquired certification in Paediatric First Aid and am fully DBS checked, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all children in my care.
My academic background has equipped me with a variety of techniques to effectively cater to the diverse needs of children, addressing both their personal and educational requirements.
