About Me
Hi, this is Aunt Cathy's Childminding Service I started childminding when my youngest was 3 years old just to get some extra income as my husband was unemployed for quite awhile, more than 42 years later, I’m still here and still loving it.
I have 3 children, but can't really call them that now as my oldest is 45 and the youngest is 38 years old. They have all flown the coup and have partners of their own. November 2013 finally became a grandparent my eldest has had a very hard time, but was rewarded with a beautiful baby girl.
Then the following year my other daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. My husband works for a food distribution company and when he's not busy there, he is busy as my assistant, as he is included on my registration certificate and insurance and we make a good team, the children love him to bits, he's the funny one.
I aim to provide stimulating learning experiences through play in a home-based environment, where the individual needs of all children will be met with equal concerns.
We used to have a loving friendly dog called Nanuke, who was excellent with the children, we will hopefully be getting another pup sometime in the near future. The children in my Service also help care for Muffin and Junior our pet rabbits and Sassie, a Giant African Land Snail. this all helps give an understanding of empathy.
We are a health promoting Service with lots of physical activities indoors and out, having a large enclosed back garden aids in this aspect. Children are also offered lots of opportunities for enjoyable craft and food 'makes' and participate in 'make-believe' festivals and encouraged to become more familiar with different forms of technology, ie laptop, wii, ds lite etc. etc. But not forgetting the main objects of my Service is to offer your child/ren safety, security, love, understanding and FUN!
My Experience
As I stated I have been childminding for 42 years now, and as you can imagine have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience over those years working with children of various ages enjoying their company and playing a part in their development.
I regularly attend any form of training that is offered that I feel could be beneficial to my Service and the children and parents who attend. In North Lanarkshire we are offered a great deal of training and valuable resources and support is offered from lots of sectors, to enable me to work to my full potential.
I have worked with several children with additional support needs ie. Dyslexia, Aspbergers, Visual impairment, Developmental problems with great results doing my best to help all children reach their full potential.
My Qualifications
Through a system of evaluation I will endeavour to undertake any training identified which will develop my Service further. Have taken part and gained certificates on workshops and seminars over the past 10 years, have successfully completed the Scheme of Excellence, which is geared towards childminders constantly self evaluating their practices. I am working my way through SVQ3 Children and Young People level 7. Have also completed and gained an HNC certificate on Working with Children birth to 3.
I have certificates in First aid, Child Protection, Food Hygiene, REHIS Food and Health, and these are all regularly updated.
Have too many other certifcates to mention, but here are just a few: Policy Developmnent, Managing child behaviour, Solution oriented approaches to challenging behaviour, Supporting early learning and Dyslexia awareness, Child development, Practical play 0-3 yrs, Assertiveness training, Children's participation, Children's rights, Working with parents, Play or cirriculum, Visibility awareness, Helping young children learn through movement, Infection Control, Respect me, Baby signing,Independence and self esteem, Equal opportunity, Effective early years development and learning, Lots of 'Lets Get Out' training and Birth to 3 training.
My Availability
I offer a flexible Service 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday
I have immediate vacancies available. I have several places available Monday to Friday, for pre-fives and school children attending Eastfield Primary School. I am open all year apart from when I take annual leave of two weeks in summer and one winter week. I am available most Bank Hoilidays, but may charge a little extra for this service.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.00 per hour
I have differents sets of fees for different circumstances and these are available on request, but are negotiated with each individual parent to offer them the best Service that suits their requirements.
My Local Schools
- I provide drop offs and pick ups at Eastfield Primary School
