About Me
My name is Gemma Rider, I'm a 35 year old Ofsted registered childminder. I live in Coulby Newham and business is called Little Gem's Adventures. I offer a warm, loving and safe environment for your child to be cared in. You will find my home to be a friendly and pleasant place for children to spend time where all children are treated with respect and valued as an individual. I also offer flexible childminding days/hours as I appreciate not everyone works standard office hours, especially teachers, doctors and nurses.
My Experience
My childminding business has been running for 4 years and I've cared for many children during this time. I've cared for babies (3-6 months) old on a full time basis, toddlers 1-3 years old as well as older children 5-10 years of age. The children come from all different walks of life, backgrounds and ethnicities, everyone is welcome.
A number of my regular children have been with me from 3-6 months old right through to when they've started nursery at the age of 3. I still care for some of the children after nursery/school.
Prior to starting my business I worked in a children’s nursery for just shy of 8 years, as a nanny for twin newborn boys for 10 months and I was the manager of an After-School club for 2 years. In addition to this I have many years of babysitting experience for all ages.
I'm originally from the Yorkshire Dales and I'm very much an outdoor person. I frequently take the children to play groups, parks, farms, outdoor activities, the seaside and attractions across the North East and the Yorkshire Dales. I always seek consent from parents prior to attending undertaking outdoor activities/visiting farms, attractions etc. The children thoroughly enjoy these experiences.
I utilise both my indoor play room and living room as well as my child friendly back garden. I have a variety of toys, for both indoor and outdoor play, including educational toys, jigsaws, dolls, cars, Wii, animals, Lego and books etc. I also have a range of art and craft activities, children’s baking equipment and actively encourage the children to be creative.
I do my utmost to encourage learning through play.

Advanced Apprenticeship in Children’s Care, Learning and Development – NVQ Level 3
Early Years Care and Education – NVQ Level 2
Certificate in Early Years Practice – CACHE Level 2
Paediatric First Aid Level 3
Safeguarding Children Level 3

My Availability
I've availability for immediate starts (August 2023 and beyond) due a number of my long term children starting school nursery.
I work full time Monday to Friday. My normal working hours are 7:30am to 18:00pm but I am flexible with these hours. Due to a number of parents working shifts I do my best to cater for their needs eg 630am starts through to 20:00pm finishes.
I have availability for both full and part time children.

I offer the 15/30 hours, government funded places for 2,3 and 4 years olds, if you qualify for the funding.
