About Me
We welcomed our third child last autumn, and are now looking for a nanny to provide sole charge care for the children. We've done our best to lay out the role clearly, as well as provide a sense of who we are as a family.
Kids:
- Boy 8 yrs old going into Y4: loves sports & science, plays chess, and is learning piano
- Girl 6 years old going into Y2: loves art, dance and football
- Baby Girl turning 1 at the end of September: already crawling at 9 months, good sleeper & eater, and a very happy demeanor
We are a busy family with two parents who work hybrid in and out of the home. We work in a garden studio when home, to help create boundaries for everyone.
We view children as strong individuals who are learning to explore the world, and our responsibility is to help them do that safely. We're looking for someone creative who wants to come up with engaging activities to help the children grow. We do not generally have screen time during the day, and expect that to be adhered to, with no screen time for the youngest.
We strive to eat whole foods, with no added sugars, and want someone who not only respects, but also values this approach to teaching children healthy habits. The kids of course are kids though, so pasta and pizza are favourites to make at home!
We believe in the equal value of all people & our responsibility to the environment, and we want someone who is keen to pass these values on through their work with our children.
We need someone who can safely do pick-ups from school (we're only half a mile from the school), engage the kids in fun, help keep the house tidy (particularly helping with kids' laundry), and some cooking. We have a regular cleaner, and do not expect a nanny to do cleaning or making the beds. We just need help keeping the kid chaos under control!
As immigrants, we do not have family support around, so we are looking for someone to come in who is eager to help and comfortable getting stuck in, ideally with a love of organisation! We're a loving family and view people who come into our home as a part of our family, particularly our past childcare providers.
We had our last nanny for 2 years and still maintain a relationship with her, as well as another previous nanny in the US & a previous au pair. References can be provided.
My Requirements
- Start date: Flexible, no sooner than September & no later than October 1st.
- 25-30 hours per week. Ideally Monday 8-6pm, Wednesday 8am-6pm, Thursday 8-6pm, but there is flexibility around the hours and days.
- A car is not a requirement, but reliable transportation to/from us is necessary. We can provide our car for any club drop offs or requirements if needed.
Requirements:
o prior experience in looking after children of these different ages, including essentials such as safeguarding, preparing children's meals from scratch & tidying up, doing bath time, cleaning children's clothes/toys/nurseries, organising outings and playtime and learning with the children through creative activities.
o reliable and punctual, with a professional attitude
o enthusiasm to look after and develop young children, as you will be a critical part of the youngest's development
o willingness to do reading, writing and maths with the older children after school
o driving licence for occasional club drop offs
o DBS checked, non-smoker
o references will be asked for and checked
Apologies, but we are not looking for someone who wants to bring their own children with them.
