About Me
I am a local childminder with 9 years childcare experience. I have gained years of experience with allergies, learning difficulties, disabilities and neurotypical disorders.
I follow Montessori's main principles that a child learns from the world around them. By fostering independence and by practicing real life skills as Teaching the child to respect and explore their environment and encourageing an interest in nature and being fully led by the child's interests.
I also agree with Waldorf principles. The importance of imaginative play and supportiving a child's creativity and expression of self.
Both approaches focus on practical skills in a holistic manner and are child centred.
The flexibility of childminding allows for a true child-centred approach where the curriculum and activities can change to suit the needs of the child. It also allows for a different age range which Montessori believes helps children learn by watching and mimicking older children. This also provides a sense of responsibility to older children.
My Experience
I have worked in the community as a children's and youth worker for 9 years. I ran various groups within a Dundee community for 4 years mother and toddler groups, children's clubs, holiday clubs and youth clubs.
While on maternity I volunteered with a non profit organisation which helped young people gain experience in the workplace and aimed to aid young people into employment.
I have been working for youth programme One Giant Leap for the last 4 years bridging the gap between child and adult services and working with children and young people who have additional support needs. During this time the young people completed ASDAN qualifications, learned life skills and cooking skills, learned how to manage money, created friendship groups and experienced outings that otherwise would not of been possible.
My Qualifications
I'm studying towards a degree and have done my first year in child psychology. I have been on numerous day courses including child protection, first aid, medication administration, data protection, child attachment to name a few. I am currently studying a loose parts course online along side a Wanderlust nature study course.

Currently I am available everyday apart from Wednesdays and Thursdays
