About Me
WELCOME to my OUTSTANDING childcare setting LITTLE JEMS CHILDMINDING!
I have been recently registered by Osted as OUTSTANDING!
My childminding setting is COVID compliant to meet the Government guide line requirements.
I live in a spacious semi-detached home with a newly landscaped spacious, safe and secure garden with newly fitted CCTV. I have recently built a large bright and airy, clean and calm garden Annex complete with a toilet and kitchenette to provide additional space for the children in my care. My setting is located 10 minutes walking distance from Brimsdown station. I live with my Husband and my two children, my daughter aged 21 years and my son aged 13 years. I have always felt passionate about nurturing and raising my own children from a young age, and really miss that stage in our lives as they are growing up so fast!! Both of my children are now in full time education, which will give me free time to care for your little ones.I have created a fun, calm and safe home from home nursery environment for the children in my care to suit all ages, from babies, toddlers and upwards. I give attention to detail to ensure my setting is a clean, well organised and fully equipped with resources to create a stimulating and happy place for your little ones!
My aim is for the children in my care to learn, develop and reach their full potential.
My home is planned out with children in mind, with a dedicated play area's indoors and outdoors with many resources for free play that children can explore and keep active including sensory and messy play area with sand, water, arts and crafts, baking,out door vehicles,climbing frame with slide, fruit and vegetable planting area for gardening when we fancy and lots more!!
I strive to offer experiences opportunities that provide the best possible learning outcomes for each individual child in my care following the guidance and requirements of the EYFS framework.
Alongside this, I make it a priority to communicate with parents, through daily discussion, diaries and shared planning.
I provide an inclusion setting and will be happy to work with children with special educational needs.
I feel it is paramount for the children to develop an understanding of the outside world and different environments.On a weekly bases we visit play groups( 4 days a week)soft play centre, the library and our local parks,farms and the woods. We also take a trip to the supermarket with each child’s shopping list to buy our ingredients for meal times.
Ive used nurseries and childminders myself when my children were young, I understand how important it is as parents/Carers to find the right person you can trust and have the feeling of contentment knowing your child is in happy and safe hands. I strive to give you a sense of reassurance that your child will feel safe in my care.
With new born experience I am happy to care for children from the age of 6 months and above.
I provide healthy home cooked breakfast, lunch,dinner,and snacks.
I have also ensured my setting is Covid safe following the government guide lines. I have updated my policies and procedures based on the government guideline requirements. I plan most of the children's daily activities outdoors to ensure they get plenty of fresh air and also ensure all toys and equipment are cleaned daily. Indoor based activities will be well ventilated.I continuously educate children to follow the correct method of hand washing and importance of good hand hygiene.

I also offer 15 hrs, 30hrs free childcare for 9months, 2 year olds, 3-4 year olds and tax free childcare.

Im offering my services from 8am -6pm Monday - Friday. All year round except for 4 weeks holiday spread throughout year.

My daughter attended Jemma’s setting from age 2.5 to 4 years, when she started school. She was originally with Jemma for 3 days and at nursery for 2 days, but after a short time we decided that Jemma’s environment was worth moving her to full time. Jemma has created a wonderful home from home in her purpose built Annex and is constantly ensuring that the kids are well catered for in terms of activities for their continued development. More often than not, the kids are taken out during the day to local play groups, parks/wooded areas and the library etc. My daughter learnt all of her phonics with Jemma and her development came on leaps and bounds due to the learning based activities that Jemma planned for her. My daughter always looked forward to going to Jemma’s in the morning and would come home full of stories of what she’d been up to; which we had photo updates on from Jemma throughout the day. Jemma was made to be a childminder and you can tell that she truly loves the children she cares for, keeping them safe and happy. I highly recommend this settling.

If you are reading this and still looking for the best childminder for your child, you can stop right now, because Jemma and her Little Jems is one of the best childminders you will find in a 500 mile radius.
when we came to see her "Little Jems" setting, we new straight away that her place will be perfect for our son.
Jemma has a separate Annexe at the back of her garden with all kinds of toys and equipment for children to learn and explore new things.
During the day, she organises different activities for children, takes them to different places like soft-plays, playgroups, parks, playgrounds... etc.
During hot summer days, she puts out in her garden a paddling pool to keep children cool.
She provides for children very good and balanced diet - cooks healthy meals and gives them nutritional snacks. Occasionally, they also get a treat in a form of a cake, juice or ice-cream when they celebrate someone's birthday.
Jemma has got live rabbits in her garden and lets children to feed them, stroke them, and teaches them to look after animals and to be always kind to each other.
She keeps a record of all major activities / incidents for each child - she writes everything down in a notebook, e.g. what they eat, drink and other information about their wellbeing.
She also keeps us updated about our son's activities throughout the day by sending us pictures and videos via WhatsApp.
Jemma is truly amazing childminder. She is loving, carring, dedicated to her job and generally very positive person.
She brings warmth to our hearts and sets our minds at peace every day our son is with her.

Jemma has been looking after my son since he was 7 months old and I honestly couldn’t have asked for anyone better! She is fully committed to her job and goes above and beyond to ensure he has everything he needs and is happy.
My son loves going to Jemma’s everyday, I get sent numerous photos and videos of my son throughout the day and my son is always happy and stimulated. Jemma takes the kids out on a daily basis whether it’s the park, soft play, play centre, library.
Jemma ensures each child has a their own daily book where she writes detailed notes about their day such what they ate, nappy changes, nap times, so you can always refer to it on a daily basis which I love.
In terms of food, Jemma makes everything from fresh! I love the fact that her all her meals are homemade and nutritious and is always introducing a variety of different meals/snacks to my son. I sometimes find myself looking in my son’s daily book for inspiration for meals!
The setting is also unique as she has a large annex at the back of the garden which is almost like a nursery/play centre. It has everything any kid would need to stay stimulated and is very inviting and cosy for the children. It is always absolutely spotless and she keeps the garden in an immaculate condition so it’s very inviting for children to play with all the garden toys. She even has 2 rabbits! The kids love them and it is very educational.. I honestly don’t know how she does it all! I understand how she got the nickname Mary Poppins!!
It is very clear that she has a strong structure in place.
Jemma is an amazing warm hearted person and is exactly what you want when leaving your child to go to work. She is nurturing to all the children, always has the best intentions and takes an active role in helping shape their development.
We are more comfortable leaving our son with Jemma over any of our family members as she knows him so well! Any problem, Jemma will have a solution for it! I honestly don’t know what I would do without her.
There is a reason she is rated outstanding by Ofsted!! Couldn’t ask for any better!

Little Jems is an amazing and professional service. Jemma is a natural made us feel at ease from the first visit. She is attentive, passionate and very committed. Great communication throughout the day with lots of pictures and videos. My son took a couple of weeks to settle in but once he got used to the new setting he loved it. Jemma is very proactive and plans fun activities everyday. I love that my son is able to access play groups and sessions with Jemma as I can't do this now that I work full time :-( I also like the fact that Jemma provides healthy filling meals for my growing boy everyday. My son has developed so much since being there - and Jemma is always happy to help you to solve inevitable issues you may be facing at home - For me it was getting my son to brush his teeth!! He used to flat our refuse and with a bit of brushing at Little Jems - he is now a pro !!
Knowing my baby is well cared for and happy whilst at Little Jem's makes me feel at ease and able to get on with my day.
If we had any concerns/ problems we would share them- but we have none !! We are really happy with the service and would highly recommend to others.

I'm so glad we found Jemma when looking for childcare for our one year old son. From the moment we met her, Jemma put us at ease with her kind, trustworthy, professional manner. Our son really enjoyed his time there. Jemma planned activities for him, gave him healthy lunch/ dinner/snacks, and kept us up to date throughout with what he was doing. When I had questions she answered me immediately.
Her setting is caring, secure, friendly and has made sure our son was happy and settled every time we dropped him off. She provides a large variety of activities and walks/ outings, she has a lovely space for children to use. Jemma has been so thoughtful in acknowledging special days, she has been flexible and been able to accommodate our needs. Having patience and a good sense of humour. Cared incredibly for my son. Very careful and kind.
We would be very happy to welcome her back should the need arise and would gladly recommend her to anyone looking for care for their child.

Fantastic service, I could not ask for anyone better, absolutely perfect, she is our Mary Poppins. We have been with Jemma since she started, she provides a warm loving home from home environment, and makes you feel very welcome. My little boy loves her dearly, and he always looks forward to seeing her, he even asks me at the weekend if he is going to Jemma's. She provides educational activities, learning through play, and always makes sure my little one does any homework provided, and will always sit and read with him. Healthy cooked delicious meals and snacks are always provided, my little one always tells me how he wants food like Jemma's, he feels loved and always tells me how much he enjoys going there. Great communication through out the day, im at work without any worries and concerns, I know my little one will be cared for and loved. At pick up she always provides feed back about the day.
Keep doing what your doing, you are doing a fantastic job and we would be lost without you, we love you dearly, the only thing im sad about is that I cannot give you 10 stars.
Do not look any further, Jemma could be your 'Mary Poppins' xx
