About Me

I am a 58 young at heart mother of 3.
I left collage in 1985 having gained my nanny qualification, I was employed by a professional family for sole charge of their 6 month old daughter. I stayed with the family for approximately two years, then sadly moved away to get married. I still remain very close to the family, who made me their daughter’s legal guardian 15+years ago. I then joined another family in Oxfordshire, looking after their 1 year old daughter . I stayed with the family for 1 year who then sadly moved away from the area . I am currently working for a lovely family for almost 3 years. Looking after two wonderful boys, now aged 7 and 5. Sadly the parents are both not working ,so feel it is slight extravagance to have a full time nanny . They are very reluctant to let me go and would like me to stay one day a week, so looking to a new family for 3 full days . I am slightly old school, it’s amazing what you can do with an old pair of socks , some buttons and wool. I would rather get out the crayons, pencils, glue, paper ,scissors and spend an afternoon getting creative ( telly and tablets are a treat ! )
I am a great believer in allowing children to play as much as possible as they learn and grow, in turn will help develop the skills needed later on in life. I did take a step back from nannying while my own children were growing up.
I have also worked on a working farm for adults with learning disabilities, special needs and autism. So I am capable of dealing with children that might have challenging behaviours. I ran an arts and crafts class 3 times a week within the farm, so I am very creative. I also set up a reading library to encourage more reading. This I applied with my own children at every opportunity. I am also a huge advocate on reading, which again I consistently encouraged in my nanny posts and my own children, so enrolled every child in local libraries. I am a huge animal lover so will not be fazed by a family dog, cat, hamster.
I have recently learnt to horse ride, and try to ride at least three times a week. I feel happiest outside, walking , swimming (which i encourage at a very young age) and being active. I also cycle at least twice a week. I actively seek out clubs/activities,I have spent many hours throwing myself into a ball pit, sliding down slides, climbing rope ladders, singing and dancing to music appreciation. As the children got older it would be time spent waiting for clubs/classes to finish, ballet, gymnastics, kickboxing, karate, swimming lessons . My current family , I plan in advance holiday activities , drawing up a planner so the children can see from day to day what activity will be happening . This usually consists of big activity out all day . A small half day activity , and a free day staying at home doing crafts , reading , baking or to allow the children to choose , play dates etc .
My paediatric first aid certificate expired recently , but looking to enrol on a course in September. I currently hold an enhanced DBS check . I also have public nanny liability insurance cover.
I am extremely reliable, my current position have never taken any sick days . I am enthusiastic, versatile, adaptable, well driven, motivated ,professional, caring ,nurturing, fun, always learning and willing to have a go at anything at least once. I am now looking for my perfect family to hopefully make a difference and help their little ones grow into well rounded, happy ambitious young people. I am ever hopeful in finding my new family .
