About Me
Hi my name is Emma from Tiny Trees Childcare, and I am currently in the process of registering with Ofsted to become a registered childminder. Once the process is complete, I will be looking to start caring for children at my home in Woodston, Peterborough from January.
I have a reception-aged son and a baby girl who will be 1 in February 2025. My previous roles have all been in wildlife conservation and wildlife education, and one of my passions is getting children outside and interacting with nature.
I have an allotment and I volunteer at an outdoor playgroup run by childminders at our local community garden.
I have a full, clean driving licence and a car with suitable car seats to take the children on adventures further afield.
I know from my own experience, what a big decision it can be to leave your child in the care of someone else and I will always prioritise creating a strong and trusting relationship between myself and the children I care for in my home from home setting.
My setting will include:
- Daily experiences outside and in nature, come rain or shine
- Opportunities for the children to grow their own food and learn how to cook with what we grow
- A small number of children in the setting with a focus on creating strong, attachment-based relationships
- A welcoming and inclusive environment
- Being part of our local community, including visits to the library, community garden and local events
- The opportunity to socialise with other children at nature-based playgroups
- A dedicated playroom and access to the garden at my house, with resources available that are tailored to your child’s development and interests
- Access to opportunities for wildlife education activities such as pond dipping
- A focus on creative play with plenty of time dedicated to making art, music and dancing
- Healthy, home cooked snacks and lunch
My Experience
I am a Mum to a four year old boy and baby girl, and Auntie to three children (now teenagers!) that I am very close to. Through my niece and nephews I have an experience of helping children with Special Educational Needs and understand neurodiversity.
I currently volunteer at a local playgroup run by childminders.
I have taught wildlife education to groups of children in London and Cambridgeshire.
My Qualifications
I have two small children who have taught me more than anything else I have done in life!
I am a trained breastfeeding peer supporter and have also undertaken training on running cooking sessions for the under-fives and their parents.
I am first aid trained and am in the process of completing training on teaching the Early Years Curriculum, effective Safeguarding as well as a course in Food Safety and Hygiene.
I have a degree in English Literature and Philosophy and a Masters in Wildlife Conservation.
My Availability
I am aiming to open in January 2025 once I have completed my registration with Ofsted.
My opening hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8.15am-4.30pm
To secure a place I will be asking for a minimum of 2 days per week and 7 hours per day.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
I accept all forms of funding. Non-funded hours will be charged at £6 per hour.
Daily food charge- £3.50 per day
