Hi there! I’m an enthusiastic, energetic 22 year old who loves spending time with children, especially in the outdoors. I’m currently completing the final year of my degree in International Development at Sussex uni, with plans to stay on in Brighton when I graduate. I have a keen passion for social justice and equality, and love finding out about the life experiences of others.
I am currently looking for part time work, whether that ad hoc childcare or on a more regular basis (no more than 15 hours a week). I am flexible and reliable, and hope to build a strong, communicative relationship with the families I support. Also I adore animals so would be more than happy to look after pets as well!
My Experience
I have 3 years of experience in the care sector as a Wellbeing Assistant, travelling to people’s homes to help with daily tasks and personal care. Whilst this is not with children, I feel that this experience has developed my abilities to look after vulnerable people in a patient and empathetic manner.
I’ve looked after my young cousins (between the ages of 3 and 10) frequently, including overnights. During summer holidays I have cared for both my cousins and children of family friends, organising games and preparing food whilst their parents were at work.
Additionally, I worked as a KUMON maths and English tutor.
And when i’m not working I love befriending children, whether that be through a smile, a funny face or a little chat. I think it’s so important to show our youth that the world can be a friendly place too!
My Qualifications
Whilst I don’t have any qualifications in childcare, I believe my practical experience with children of different ages to be extremely valuable. I have 3 A Levels at A*AA and completed all my GCSEs to a high level.
My Availability
I am unavailable daytime of Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays due to university commitments. Other than that, I am pretty flexible. I can do overnights but I would prefer to get to know the family a bit first.
