My Summary
About Me
Working with children has always been an area I was enthusiastic about so becoming a qualified teacher was an obvious career path for me. For this reason, over the years I had performed voluntary work in local children services such as the holiday reading challenge schemes in the idea store as well as holiday events and activities with the Ragged school museum. These opportunities have taught me the importance of learning outside the classroom and how to create a stimulating and effective learning environment.
My BA Primary Education degree at the University of Greenwich further sparked my motivation for wanting to teach as it developed my understanding of the current practices in Primary Schools and the Early Years settings. My PGCE course has further trained and prepared me with the fundamental skills and practices I need to become a successful teacher. I am now looking for a new work environment to use my expertise on children's learning and their development to become a childcarer.
My Experience
I have taught a class with upto 45% of SEN needs and the impact I've had on these children's learning was providing the opportunity to evolve vocabulary, develop listening and attention skills as well as develop their metacognition. As a teacher I have identified the effectiveness that parental engagement has on pupil progress, I was able to interact with parents by communicating with them regularly about daily activities and individual pupil behaviour within the classroom. I feel this would support me in my new role as a childcarer.
I believe a cross-curricular approach can be extremely beneficial to children, in order to make their learning relevant and to formulate their own connections.
I trust that cooperation and mutual support with parents are very vital in a child's development so I hope to make good use of my creativity, time-management and organisational skills to provide as much support as I can. My experience in school has enhanced my confidence and interpersonal and communication skills including communication with parents which I believe is a key element in children learning.
As a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic individual I believe that I would integrate well into your establishment and bring with me a positive attitude, new ideas, enthusiasm and personality to benefit the children.
I have also had first aid training and have a DBS.
My Qualifications
I have a BA(Hons) in Primary Education and a PGCE in Primary Education.
