My Summary
About Me
After 11 Years as a Norland nanny I have since September 2016 been Childminding, and I love it! I am committed to providing a homely environment where children can thrive and develop. i also live with my partner Dan, our daughter Imogen (born December 20) our lodger Jon, tortoises and fish
On leaving school I went straight to Norland College to study, having known from a young age that working with children, watching and helping them grow and blossom is the only thing I wanted to do. At 16 I was the youngest student to be accepted and 3 years later graduated with a CACHE Level 3 in Childcare and Education. I then went on to be a private nanny for the next 12 years working with children from newborn to 8 years old, for families with single or multiple children and twins. I have cared for children with many different personalities and needs and have made amazing friendships and faced many challenges along the way
My Experience
From September 2016- present
I have been working as a childminder!
January 2014- September 2016-
3 children aged 6,5 and newborn born April 2015.
Live out nanny. Having returned to the same family that employed me from September 2011.
Sole charge and shared care, responsible for school runs and activity calendar as well as all extracurricular activities both during and outside school term time.
Whilst the children are at school I plan and provide nutritious family meals, look after pets, manage any tradesmen and generally oversee the running of the house.
i also care for the newest member of the family too born in may!
February 2015- May 2015-
Part time, temporary live out nanny for 3 children aged 4 months, 3 and 5 at commencement of post.
Sole charge and shared care position. My role included, general nanny duties such as school runs, children washing and cooking, keeping all children’s areas clean and tidy and planning fun activities for the children, including day trips and art activities to name a few. I was also able to help with weaning, bottle feeding and the babies sleep routine.
February 2013- January 2014
Live in nanny for two children aged 2 and a baby born June 2013
Sole charge, full time position, having newborn from a couple of days old! The family had never had a nanny before an we worked together to get a great routine in place for the two children.it was great to become part of the family and build up a good relationship with the parents.
I helped with breast feeding, weening, potty training and lots more.
We spent a lot of time outdoors at the park and local attractions, cooking with the children, spending time at home and playing with their toys, lots of creative play, baby and toddler groups and lots of fun and cuddles!
i had to leave this family as they were relocating but we still keep in contact!
September 2011- December 2012
Live in nanny for 2 children aged 1 & 3
Sole charge position including short proxy parenting periods as and when required. My role included all general nanny duties such as taking the children to groups and activities, nursery duties, providing a varied and nutritious menu and arranging play dates and social opportunities.
Employed specifically to help the family in a transitional period of moving to a new part of the country. I concentrated on settling the children into a new routine and pre-school as well as helping more, generally to establish the family in their new home and find local provisions; such as doctors, opticians, play parks and groups.
The youngest child is deaf and has some additional medical needs which I have gained experience with. I managed his medications on a daily basis and attended meetings with professionals such as paediatricians, play and sensory support workers; who were involved in his care, taking on developmental targets and working to help him achieve these. This was a valuable opportunity to learn and experience how to support children with different needs and also to push my boundaries by moving to a new area and establishing new professional and social groups.
I continue to keep in regular contact with the family and see them often.
May 2009 - September 2011
Live out Nanny for twins aged 1 year at commencement of post.
As a sole charge nanny, I had full responsibility of the twins from when they woke up in the morning until bedtime. As well as a full range of usual nanny duties, I established a successful day and bed time routine and importantly facilitated a good relationship between them, whilst celebrating their differences and nurturing their individual interests. During my time with the family I guided the twins through milestones such as learning to talk, potty training and removing dummies whilst also instilling gentle discipline where needed.
Good manners and introducing them to social situations such as playgroups, singing and dancing classes were key in their social and personal development. I have maintained a great relationship with the family and continue to stay in touch with them regularly.
Sept 2005- April 2009
Live out Nanny for children aged newborn, 1 and 2 at commencement of post.
This role was a mixture of sole charge and shared care with the children's mother. I joined this family during my probationary period in my Diploma at Norland College.
Due to the age range of the children I gained a wealth of knowledge in this position.
Experiencing the care and responsibility of a newborn as well as settling the eldest into school. I built an excellent rapport with the whole family and thoroughly enjoyed my time with them. My role included all general duties such as preparing home cooked food, arranging a mixture of outdoor fun and activities, as well as plenty of arts, crafts and games at home.
I have kept in touch with the family and get regular updated on the children.
